Have nearly flattened battery once too often
Found a simple way to make a lights on buzzer
Buy a maplin 3 quid buzzer... 2 wires black plastic circular thing about 25mm dia
Connect red wire to side lights relay 03 terminal 86 and connect black wire to the same terminal in the spare relay 01 position adjacent
Done!

Found that 6mm crimp spade pushes nicely into the relay blade holes but got lazy on the one that needs the relay fitted and just soldered the red wire across the top edge of the relays blade...sure there's a neater way

You're a star, mate- a simple solution to a right pain in the ..... !

Surprised to see no further comments on your post; presume all the other lads here have already night vision installed and we are the 2 last remaining dead- battery- resulting- from artificial- light- source- usage- dinosaurs on planet Tuscan.

On my list for the next service, as not a spanner hero any longer... must be getting old (& lazy & fat).

Thanks beer

I was thinking of exactly how to fix this the other day and missed your OP. I don't tend to drive it at night but do now like DRL's from Sep to Mar which is where the biggest risk of leaving them on is. Cracking solution, pity mine is coming out of its 12k tomorrow meaning I'll have to tackle it myself
yikes

Yes this sounds like a nice excuse to pop out to the garage over the festive break ;-)

This sounds a great idea PHP can you please explain sequence ie lights "on" "door open" " ignition "off" buzzer "Sounds"? Also are we fitting relay to spare 01 position?

thanks Dave

Hi All
1. No need to fit relay in 01...just poke the spade into slot for equivalent to terminal 86
2. Side-lights or main lights on ign off = buzz, ign on lights = on or off = no buzz smile

Just got around to doing this. Only taken me nearly three years!

Works perfectly.

I prised off the relay cover and soldered the wire to the post inside with a small hole in the cover for the lead.
Thanks for the heads up, great solution.

No .. I just configure my Tuscan convertible in the setup screen and it bleeps and keeps the dash illuminated if I leave the lights on.

excellent tip - thanks so much! worked for me too! although not sure how well my expansive midriff will recover from the requisite contortion.
