Power steering warning light.
Discussion
Good evening.
I know it's not a proper PH car, but the wife has a Mk2 KA - OK it is a cheap runaround and ideal for the low mileage she does!!
The power steering is an electric motor on the steering column, so no hydraulics.
She said it's intermittently being getting heavier, and today the dash warning light came on.
The Haynes manual says there's nothing that can be done, apart from change the whole column, but I disconnected the battery for a few minutes and this seems to have cured it!
A couple of questions - will this have permanently cured it and, if not, is there anything I should be looking at? All connectors under the dash seem to be tight, and I have copper-eased the battery terminals and made sure they are tight. I assume the same system is used in other Fords?
