Bought my girlfriend tickets to see Wicked at the Apollo on the 20th December, we were contemplating just getting the train down and back up instead of staying, but I'm quite fond of the idea of staying over for the night instead. Being from't north it's all a bit daunting and I fear for my wallet. Just wondered if anybody could suggest anything for me to have a look at before I trawl through TripAdvisor. Criteria wise;

Ideally free on site parking
Doesn't have to be dead central, happy to jump in a taxi or walk to the nearest tube station (whatever a 'tube' is)
Price wise, ideally like £120 max but less would be better

Just a decent place to get a good sleep and have some breakfast really.

Thank you! beer

forget the driving, take a train and stay central. Not to far (about a 30 minute walk or 3 stops on the underground) would be something like Thistle marble arch at about £150 a night and right on oxford street for a spot of xmas shopping, there is one closer but its a lot more. If you want free parking, you'll be way, way away from the center. There are loads of hotels obviously, but friends of mine always like staying there mainly for the excellent location.

Premier Inn at Stratford maybe?

If you really want to drive then you could park at Newbury Park tube station (I park there all the time, safe car park) and then get the Central line to Stratford. Then from Stratford you're 8 stops from the West End.

Travellodge Holborn is a brilliant location. No parking though but as others have said, driving into town is not advised anyway. It will make the whole thing so much more stressful.

Currently showing £99 for the night of the 20th in a double room.

Tower Bridge - Guoman hotel is currently showing a price of £119 for the evening of the 20th - Parking under the hotel, but don't bother with that, Wapping High Street (it's a quiet road with no through traffic, don't worry) is free on the weekends (and where I leave the Elise). Nice bar overlooking the river and the bridge - only half a dozen stops from Tower Hill in to the West End. It's where I put most of my visitors. St. Katharine Docks is a lovely spot too, and loads of restaurants.

Is there a good chance of a space on Wapping High Street on a Saturday morning? Contemplating scrapping staying over and just parking for the day now to be honest.

They'll be tonnes of spaces all along Wapping High Street, and if you're lucky / early (before 11am say), pop down to the far end of St. Katharines Way (cobbled road just around the back of the dock) and you should be able to grab a space there and then you are only a few minutes walk from everything / the tube. Free as of 5:30pm Friday until first thing Monday. The Butlers Wharf choice isn't bad either, decent carpark.
