In the market for a race suit, helmet, gloves and boots for next year. Plenty of places to choose from online, but are there any physical, bricks-and-mortar shops that could be visited to try stuff on for size? I'm based in Cambs, so the one that springs to mind, Demon Tweeks, is a bit of a trek being in N Wales. Anywhere more local?

Your best option is to pop along to the Autosport show at the NEC next month. Not only will the likes of DT's and GP Racewear be there so that you can try before you buy, but they usually have offers on as well.

I had considered that, but I'm out the country while it's on.

GPR have some deals on for suit, boots and gloves sets as well as some other combinations such as undies and helmets/ HANS. It's not on your doorstep but Silverstone is a bit closer than DT. I ordered online then went to the shop to try on before leaving with my gear.

Swapped a couple of items for different sizes and they happily mixed and matched brands to get what I needed.

When the boots on back order eventually turn up, I'll be a very happy bunny! ;-)

I went down to London when I lived in St Ives to see these guys http://www.msar.co.uk/ - a pig to get South London but they have a really good service. They made sure I tried on helmets to ensure I got one with a good and comfortable fit, chewed the fat on club motorsport and trackdays, lots of useful advice. Even if it resulted in more purchases they were well worth it!

I'd give them a call.
