So here I am still periodically pondering these 2 years after saying it would be my next car.

There's one on AT with 228,000 miles, but ramped and stamped all the way (FBMWSH).

What could possibly go wrong?

At 4k you've got to be tempted after all showing that mileage it must be an honest car!

Get a good test drive and check out the history.

£4000 is too much for that car with those miles, especially on a 55 plate.

They are asking prices if you could get the 62k one for £6k would you still go £2k less for the bigger miles?

That said how much could you really lose on the cheaper one? These cars provided they are serviced properly will simply keep running. If its in good nick visually and the drivers seat isn't saggy and all he bushes have been replaced then why not - also if assume you might want it not to be in its original clutch.

If the 228k one seemed fine, I'd go for it. Just budget around £1k for anything that needs replacing due to that mileage, bushes, rubbers etc. Non service consumables really.

The 130i M is a really nice car and great engine note.

228k on an N/A hot hatch/exec hot hatch premium German quality it will be fine

I'd be tempted to go for the 228K one, beat them up a bit more, make sure it's got a service history - thing should be good for another 250K
