got no one to blame but myself , but got myself a ticket for 102mph m25 clockwise jct 5 clacket lane services - 4310a sunday morning 7 am , clear traffic ,been past this spot loads of times at 90-100 and never had a ticket or been flashed before.must be new camera , got a letter 1 week later stating -

1.conditonal offer of a fixed penalty

2.court hearing

so i take it , its option 2 once i tell them it was me and i await the 2nd letter

is this how it works ,as i have never had a speeding ticket before

Why do you want to go to court and not accept the fixed penalty?

I've seen very new cameras j8-9 (both sides), plus there's 2 new ones (both sides) 5-6... But not within 3 miles of Clacketts ... Was it a traffic car or Scamera van perhaps?

Sorry to note 30+ over limit....Time now to start working out a work related hardship mitigation to reduce the probable ban I guess?

They most certainly are within 3 miles of Clacketts. Almost exactly 1 mile either side to be more accurate.

Hopefully this will be a lesson to all those people on PH who insist that the M25 cameras are either not working or only enforcing the VSL. Whilst that used to be the case, it now no longer is.

If you do get a ban though, I can't see it being a very long one for 102.

I certainly wouldn't do 100mph on that stretch, in either direction. The road surface is horrendous - huge amounts of patching, holes, lumps & bumps, grooves etc.

An absolute disgrace, considering we recently had roadworks there for 18 months to turn it into a "managed motorway". The condition is worse than it was before they started.

Really, what do you drive? most of my cars would be fine (apart from the new cameras which would make it a very silly thing to try!)

Good luck OP over 100 is going to be difficult to argue why.

they seem to be offering you a choice

if fixed penalty is on offer for 102, does it say what the fixed penalty is?

So what speed do they enforce when a lower limit isn't being illuminated?

I suspect it's a system generated letter, and once you fess up, they'll take you to court for a round of frozen sausages up your freckle.

Most if not all HADECS cameras are live now, 80 mph seems to be the tripping point.

Why?

The Police only enforce the limits, they don't set them.
