Hey guys, just after a bit of advice if I may.

Within the last couple of days my '06 Leggy 2.0R has developed a flatspot in the rev range roughly between 2100 & 3000rpm. I've done a bit of research into it, I bought the car 8 months ago knowing they were prone to them, and so far I've come up with a few things to try myself first like cleaning the MAF sensor, the EGR valves and fuel pump/filter.

The thing that confuses me is that when there's no load on the clutch it will rev freely and smoothly all the way through the range and it idles perfectly at around 8/900rpm. But, when driving the hesitation appears again, surely if it were the EGR valves it would do the same at a standstill or with the clutch disengaged?

Have I missed something or have I misdiagnosed the problem?

I have the same car as you. It appears to be a mapping issue. I'd take it to a Subaru dealer and get them to plug it in and see if it's had the ECU update/remap. Although, even then it may not fix it.

I've tried the mechanical 'fixes' and none of them have worked, so changing components won't make a difference. I've tried new plugs, O2 Sensor, and a new MAF; and other than cleaning the EGR or changing it, just leaves the knock sensor. However, i'm not prepared to waste any more money on it chasing the problem. Mine appears to have had the update, so it may work - or not!

As soon as the issue begins to rear its head, I simply perform an ECU reset and the issue goes away for 250-300 miles, then once the fuel trim has been relearned it starts again.
