I take it that is aftermarket and could knock money off my insurance just to confirm?

You wont get money off insurance for that. You can ask but I would be very very surprised.

It is indeed an aftermarket alarm, they came with a sigma alarm. Aftermarket allarms are usually just trouble rather than actually an upgrade.

Only a tracker will help your insurance.

More than a few insurers, who may be cheaper than others, insist on a thatcham category one alarm being fitted. Laserline do make a cat one model. When I first started owning imprezas I couldn't get insured without a tracker but the past 5 years I haven't needed one. Being well past 40 probably helps mind.
