So hopefully in the next week or two I should have my new barge. A W215 CL500. The car is a 00MY with 90k in black and with a good history including work having been done on ABC. Always liked them and going back to a big V8 is always a good move.

The mini barge 6 MPS just wasn't as nice as my 740 was to drive.
Always liked the w215 CL, any pictures?

Random question of the day, were you on the type r Scotland forum many moons ago?

This, on the other hand, I've held off posting for 24 hours as I've been really, really considering it. Anyone fancy a low mile XJR V8 project wink

It might be just my paranoia...but has that car got two different pattern tyres on the front but furthermore normal/non-metric wheels on the front and 'Black-line' TRXs on the back?!
Quite correct, 15" and 415mm style 5s respectively. Nice.

Not necessarily the end of the world, but this is a quasi-trader. He seems to perpetually have Mercs of this vintage for sale privately which always makes me suspicous.

I weighed in one 415 TRX rim and one 18" E60 rim recently. The TRX ones are annoyingly light in comparison!

But then I suspect any difference in mass is probably more than made up for the fact that the tyres you can fit to the 18" rim will be a superior by several country miles in terms of grip!

Will post pics up when I get home.

Did you use the same username on TRS?

Whilst I appreciate it's not a barge in the strictest sense of the word, I've just picked this up:

Wrong number of cylinders, but all the toys, nice leather (well, when it's been cleaned and fed it will be) and the bloke paid me £500 and this Alfa for the privilege of taking my 157k mile Bora TDI off my hands, which was nice, as the intercooler had just started leaking oil and I'm fairly sure the turbo was on its last legs too.

A teenaged Alfa as a daily smoker. What could possibly go wrong? hehe

Such good looking cars. It's a shame that Alfa are producing pretty boring cars now. I overtook the latest focus sized car the other day thinking it was a Mazda until I saw the badge.

Alpina fans what do we think of this ad I came across on carandclassic for a 1997 b12 with 80k miles - he wants £30k and is a bit snappy about it as well! http://m.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C606949

Taken the "m" off the link, as it went to mobile version. Is it me, or are there no pics of it!?

Either way, absolutely crazy money, shirley?

Yep, bland in the extreme on most of the car, then some gopping front end that looks like it was done by a 10 year old who'd seen an Alfa badge on something once. They did make nice looking cars, once upon a time.

And that's coming from a L100NYY... wink

Never mind, he'll be watching the views rise on his advert and turn to his wife and say "Any moment dear, they will be biting my hand off. Maybe I should raise the price?"

Hmm, CLK is looking poorly at times, am suffering some coolant loss and clunky gear changes on the auto box, is it time to cut and run. I'm thinking it could be the radiator leaking into gearbox cooler issue. Anyone any idea of costs?

Thanks in advance
I believe if you catch it quickly you can get away with a new radiator and flushing the ATF a couple of times. Probably about £5-600 if your lucky.

Only affects Valeo radiators and not everyone is lucky with just a flush.
I have heard of it affecting non Valeo radiators on occasion.

The symptom is usually the gearbox feeling like it is slipping rather than clunky so might not be the problem. How is the car under load up steep hills? (felt very much like a slipping clutch when detected on my S211.)

I did the job myself for say £250 all in (new rad and full flush of gearbox and torque converter)

Thanks lads, its clunking in the lower gears, seems happier in comfort mode today rather than S I use normally (which is standard rather than sport) but still engaging roughly in the lower gears.
