Arguably the best looking mass produced car of the last 10 years.

I love the leather seats in these, but the silver plastics are a bit low rent.
Makes my E91 look like a complete swamp donkey. But I'd still rather own the BMW.
Alfa know how to make great leather front seats...
We had exactly one of those as a hire in Italy once. It looked very pretty on the outside but those silver plastics in the interior were horrid. The car was relatively new and those bits looked like they were going to break or look shabby very quickly.

The drive was 'ok' but not particularly inspiring either.
Thats why i stopped at front seats, hehe.

Not quite in budget at £8k, however sometimes you have to up the budget for the right vehicle.

All 8L of V10, fitting barge for collecting your weekly shopping, if you can fit it in the car park.

It looks like they just melted the crash test dummy and left it as the design.

They might look nice but if they're anything like the ones in the GTV they'll be neither comfortable or supportive, regrettably.

1L = £1k. That's a novel way to price a car.

It's a shame that the original truck engine outputs 'only' 310hp. Lamborghini were the ones who thoroughly re-worked the engine for use in the viper.

More than just a little DNA shared.

The 300C in turn is based on parts of the W210 and W211 Mercedes E class. It really is a parts bin car.

Is this a post-facelift? Likely to be rust and problem free?

A 4-cyl with the devil's fuel; would it really be that bad an ownership proposition?

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2015...

It is post mini-facelift (Euro IV engine) but pre-major facelift which brought a sharper V shape to the front bumper and pivoting (rather than folding) door mirrors. I ran a 55 plate just like that for a year and 12k miles from new without issue. It will only have 150bhp, but once wound up is OK for motorway work. (ETA- I've yet to see any rusty 211 that didn't have obvious crash damage)

V12AMG - any thoughts from you on these? Is there a sweet spot in the range?

I very much prefer petrol, but there aren't many post-06 about at thread money.

I'm toying with the idea of buying a newer, more modern car than the 124. If I succumb to domestic pressure on the family estate, I reckon I'll be all right keeping old stuff for the other cars. Suitable options really only seem to fall to 210/211 Mercs and V70s, so I'm 'scoping'.

600 SEC up for auction with 78k miles on it (according to the pictures). http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C651702

Estimate £2.5-2.8k if this means anything. Why do so many of these seem to end up going through auction?

Would you want to sell one for a £500 "profit" then have someone pop back 2 days later needing a dash out job to fix the heater?

Neither does anyone else, hehe so auction it is.
I think the previous owners tend to be dead.

Neither executors who have already retired to Spain on Papa's remaining hard-earned, nor his nonagenarian widow, nor his three septuagenarian mistresses are keen on doing battle on Gumtree.

I'm really fancying the idea of a 159 after I get my own place next year. Some nice examples around the 3k mark. Sure there's a massive bork factor, but they're so good looking!

Oh I don't know, they seem to have more niggles than major bork factor, some chocolate suspension (which can be on the... er... stiff side if you get a Ti model) and you have to keep an eye on wheel geometry otherwise they chew through tyres (had to do an emergency tyre replacement on mine as they'd worn dangerously on the inside which I hadn't spotted). The front seats are comfy mind, some of the best I've used (not that I'm all that worldly in car seats mind). Overall a nice car and I'd have another, petrol for preference (though I'm currently hankering for a car with a V shape to its cylinder layout with a moggy badge).

Really? I found the seats in my 156 to be very supportive. In fact they were some of the comfiest seats I've ever graced with my bum.

I found them overly firm, not quite sculpted enough, and the bolsters too far apart so I slid around on them. Shame as they look the sex.

I'd certainly prefer the Viper engined SRT-10, but you're probably looking for at least double the money:

I'm currently running a 156 wagon alongside the Soarer at the moment and find the seats great, comfort, support and after 100000 miles they still look very very good. But it's up for sale as have my eye on a nice 530i touring.

Another fast Volvo; I rather like the look of it. Anything to be aware of? (Aside from the fact that it's not a 124, obvs.)
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volvo-V70-2-5-Turbo-200-...

That's rather interesting - if you wanted a thread estate but wanted something a bit more modern than a W124, that's about as old money as you'll get these days. I hadn't realised they'd got so cheap. Is the tax £500?
These are great cars but seem to develop quite a few expensive faults at higher mileage (Diesels more than petrols of course), with plenty of electrical gremlins.

The 2.5T is a low pressure turbo and is not the best showing of the 5 cylinder petrol IMHO, the economy is poor and the road tax is sky high. I think if you're going petrol in one of these you might as well hold out for a T6, the economy is no worse.

Sadly they never made a proper T5 version of this model.

A very nice 280bhp but expensive tax.

Really? Sounds like you might be carrying a few less pies than me then! I'm fairly slim and found I fit them perfectly... Horses for courses though I s'pose, seats are very much a personal preference I find.
