I think I'm about to go the nuclear route and have a clear out under the bonnet to make way for an LS3(!).

My current installation is a 5.0L Rover with V8D stealth cam and recently rebuilt standard TVR heads, a Rover Vitesse twin plenum with John Eales trumpet base, ACT performance manifolds, exhausts and racing cats, an Emerald ECU, coil packs and wide-band lambda sensor and ACT Big-bore induction hose and K&N filter. With all this lot together I'm getting 310bhp on the dyno.

Are these better offered as one complete package with a proven performance, or should I put the original plenum back on the engine and advertise the twin plenum, exhausts, ECU etc as individual items? I'm not sure which is the best way to get as much as I can to offset against the cost of upgrade.

Grateful for your thoughts...

I really have no idea and understand your point, but shouldn't we Griffiteers help each other with reasonable prices and not get every penny out of each other ?

In an ideal world yes, but be realistic and put yourself in his position.

To the OP I'd offer the engine as you take it out of the car as it's a proven built unit that (I assume) is working well.

Offer the other standard bits and piece separately I'd say.

It's unreasonable to expect someone to sell something for less than it's worth for altruistic reasons. Also, Who's to say that it would be bought to put in a Griff? A friend of mine has recently bought a 500 engine to put into a road legal Challenge car he's building but it could end up in literally anything.

It does sound like a nice spec though. I'd agree with the last poster that the best chance of getting strong money for it is to sell it as a complete package but only if you sell it while it's actually still in the car i.e. the buyer can drive/be a passenger and see what it's like. This is how my friend bought his 500 engine.

I kept an eye on ebay over the last 12 months for a 5ltr engine and the breakers are getting 4k for a complete 5ltr engine. They dont hang around for long either.

Good luck with the ls, keep us updated thumbup

Being Christmas and all, you could donate it to me for my Taimar?

In all seriousness I'd look at selling it as a complete lump.

keep it in the car till its sold, its harder to sell a engine off the floor. if i were a buyer, i'd want the whole setup

good luck with the LS3! drop me a line if you want any help/advice

Selling it as it is means that as long as it goes into a new home in exactly the same spec then there's no setting up to do, it will run just as it does in your car now.
However those twin plenums still fetch big money, so there's an argument for putting it onto a single 72mm plenum and selling the vitesse plenum separately?
