My mothers 406 failed its MOT yesterday for the ABS warning light not coming on with the ignition. On further investigation it transpired that the bulb had been removed, replacing it resulted in a permanently on ABS warning light so it was clearly removed deliberately to pass a previous MOT (before they changed the rules). Further investigation revealed that the 50A maxi fuse for the ABS was missing in action and in fact only half the socket was present (one spade seems to go into the fusebox moulding, the other appears to go into a separate connector that was not present).

Clearly the system has been messed around with by a previous owner in a failed attempt to fix the original problem. Does anyone have any idea where the fuse should be wired to so I can replace it and then start seeing what the original problem was? Any other ideas also appreciated.

sorry, can't help with the fusebox but a common fault with these is the reluctor rings on the driveshafts come loose causing the light to come on. Happened to both sides on mine.
