ive been commuting from the m6 heading south and get on the m58 at j26 off the m6 but the 58 always seems empty.

M62 probably takes more traffic, from south and Manchester, M58 has always been quiet, I think a lot still use the East Lancs (A580) from North Manc too.

Simon, I use it on the odd occasion about 07:30 hrs it's busy and at 17:00/18:00 hrs it's busy - albeit rush hour times.

The M58 was never finished, at either end,
Read about it here and
here

When it was opened it was extremely quiet and seemingly un-Policed -In its short distance, it begins in Greater Manchester, travels through Lancashire and then ends in Merseyside.

I remember my Dad 'exercising' his new Mk2 Cavalier on it, when he suddenly discovered that it was Policed and was then required to 'exercise' the brakes quite vigorously laugh
