He is meant to be coming up to see me tomorrow to buy a watch from me. However the emails and phone calls have been a tad strange to date. This morning he kept calling me by the wrong name. Perhaps he is just very busy and dealing with a lot of people at the same time. I've not had a call from him this afternoon as expected though.

So, I suppose you could say I am in the process of trying to deal with him. But if it doesn't pan out I will have a particularly nice Rolex GMT II Pepsi available...

Update:

The character in question made a good offer for a watch I was selling. Then we had what can only be described as odd conversations, during which he either called me by the wrong name or continually contradicted himself- for example saying he had called me and left a message, but seconds later claiming he didn't have my number. Suffice it to say we didn't do business.

My advice would be to proceed with extreme caution if buying from or selling to this particular dealer.

I have just come across this thread on Pistonheads and all I will say is this guy is not to be trusted. There are plenty of good honest and reputable dealers so I would look elsewhere.

I've been emailing him via ebay as he has a RARE Pepsi Bezel GMT 16710 for a very cheap price of 5,250.00. I enquired as to how he considered this watch rare, and he stated because it had all paperwork and was great condition. I told him that it was not rare at all and he was asking way too much for the watch. He stated that the watch had already been sold. (That old chestnut). So, why, James, is is still advertised on ebay? Oh well, a deposit has been paid and I will take down the item on Mon when the remainder has been paid. Whatever.

The description also states that a complete service and polish has been carried out in-house. He will not answer any questions in respect to who conducts the servicing and whether or not he is accredited to carry out servicing on behalf of Rolex.

It boils my blood how these cowboys get away with this kind of advertisising.

Item number 251815020433

Please do not buy, though, as the watch has already been sold. Apparently.

I don't think the price is wrong if it's a good 'un and from a reputable source. But in this case I think the source falls outside the description "reputable".

"Rare" means sod all, always has. Your ire would be better directed at "guaranteed appreciation" if you've got a problem with the advert. Although I suspect you'd get a "Well, I definitely appreciate it as a nice watch. Oh, you thought I meant 'increase in value'", by response.

I may take a walk to their showroom when I have time. It's 10 mins walk from work.

I must walk through this area 3-4 times a week and normally have an eye for watch shop, of which there are plenty in the area.

How have I missed it?

Because it isn't there.

I wouldn't waste your time and bother going to his showroom - it is a serviced office rented by the hour - opposite Claridges in Brook St I hear....
