Drove past the village hall today and they had an antiques fair on. Decided to have a wander round with the OH.

Amongst the glass and furniture I found some old 1965 issues of autosport. Was really chuffed. One has the entry list of Le Mans for that year and the other has a glorious full colour pic of a 250LM on the cover.

I'm thinking of getting them framed after I've had a read, before I mess them about, are they worth anything?

Ha, this made me chuckle!

I have half a ton of classic magazines from 1955 to 1980 here given to me some years back. Totally unsaleable I'm afraid, but useful as a reference guide. This type of thread crops up here from time to time, and all that happens - as will with my collection - is that they will go for recycling in the end. Sad.

Too true. I have every copy of Classic & Sportscar since it came out, and a complete run of Motor Sport from 1971, plus incomplete years from 1950.

I tried to sell them once, but no takers. Motor Sport used to be a collectors' thing, and complete runs went for decent dosh, but the whole shebang is on the internet now, so nobody wants the paper version. They're still taking up half my bedroom,I just can't part with them.

Okay,

actually happy about that. I shan't worry too much about getting them framed then!

Also bought a period magasine about the first world war. Genuine 1914. £4 seems crazy value.

I see the Beck XK120 for sale too. I'm assuming that was Rob Beck's car - that was a monster. Sadly I have no pix of it, but it was quite something.
After the XK, Beck built an E Type with Ford V8 called the Egal.

If anyone has a good collection of Motoring News copies (especially 1966), Autosport 1959 - 1969 or early copies of Triple C (1965/66) I'd be very interested to buy them, I use them purely for research for which they are a fantastic information resource. Take up a load of loft space but hey, that's what lofts are for!

Pete, I have a fair few issues of Autosport from 1962-63 and the odd one from later in the '60s which are potentially going spare (subject to there being anything in them on Japanese cars, which is doubtful from this era). Can't help with the others I'm afraid, but if these are of interest please send me an email postmaster [at] spottedlaurel [dot] plus [dot] com.

Happy to sell or trade, I'm more into 1970s and '80s mag for their content on old Datsuns etc.
