We have just added this little chap to our track day arsenal and await the arrival of the trailer mid Jan. Can I please tap on your expertise and experience to provide some tips and advice on how to make next years track and test days a success. The car has paddle shift and zero hours engine from Radical and has treaded Dunlop tyres (not dry sump yet)

Hope we are not mad. Great thanks, look forward to some gold nuggets driving

The XDemo car I believe, not raced in the series but used for demo and filming days.
Which one did you get?

I looked at a demo car at the factory a month back,2013 car with paddles and I think it had a drysump. You beat me to it.

I don't think it was the one you tried out as I had viewed and purchased it the day before on Tuesday 11th and they said it was staying put. They did say Silverstone was on though but not sure which cars they used. The Noble car looked clean in the advert but I don't think I saw it at the factory on the Tuesday.
I also have a blast trial day in the SR1's at Bedford North circuit in November and absolutely love them hence had to have one.
Are you planning any track sessions with yours next year, if so we could get them out together. Radical are providing a days support as part of the sale to show me the ropes. Just waiting for my clam shell SR1 trailer to arrive. Can't wait to get it out there

My advice... Get the 210bhp upgrade and dry sump it.
A mega little car, and can hold it's own pretty well, but slicks transform it...

Happy to get together for a day out.
Where in Berks are you?

I recon the rear diffuser from the SR4 may fit the SR1. With Diffuser, Slicks, drysump and the bigger throttle bodies maybe, It could make a bit of a difference to the SR1.

I presume you are doing the SR1 cup from your previous post. You should stay standard to test and get dialled in.

The SR4 diffuser should fit as the SR1 is an SR4. So you can try diffuser and slicks in-between SR1 testing. However once you do, you won't be happy with the handling of the SR1 in SR1 spec!!

Thanks Aycee and Bert for your advice. We will run for a while on a few track days to get dialled in to the car then go for the upgrades.
I have also been advised that a cooling radiator fan is a good upgrade to prevent water overheating while doing driver swops in pits really useful for track day type work. Do you have a view on this upgrade? All the control and wiring loom is in place apparently.
Thanks Ray.

If you are in a reasonably controlled environment you don't really need the fan, but if you are faffing about waiting, in queues etc it can be very helpful. And a fairly simple upgrade too.

Very worthwhile indeed, particularly for short periods stacked in the pit lane when there's a red flag. 100% recommend it for all Rads that are used for trackdays. For driver swops on trackdays there's really no need to keep the motor running especially as most are open pit lane rather than sessioned nowadays.

Sounds interesting - would be useful for me running in a hot environment. At 35-40 deg air temp and a dry sump system, its often possible to get to the limit of water temp on warm up, before oil temp is up to minimum.

Also regarding the SR4 diffuser - I was looking at the same upgrade...

Just fitted the dry break refuelling system for the endurance race last weekend. What a PITA that is. It may well fit the SR3 straight out of the box, but it requires some significant modification for the SR1... But it did get a full refuel time down from 3 - 4 minutes with fuel bubbling back out of the filler to about 25 seconds.

So here's another quick question for you guys in the know wink
Will our SR1 pass the static drive-by noise tests say at Bedford and how and where is it carried out. I'm thinking of us arriving towing the SR1 inside clam shell what is the normal procedure compared with rocking up in the car your tracking where they do it on the way in. Also as the ground clearance is minimal do you need to drop track side or is it ok around the circuit entry roads?
Thanks. Ray.

Not sure explicitly about the Drive-by tests in the UK. But I can tell you that the SR1 is very quiet in my experience - my feeling is that you'll have no issue.

Noise testing at Bedford is a nightmare for cars with little or no ground clearance, because they test on the way in to the venue and there are some fairly significant speed humps to negotiate between the noise test area and the parking area. The only option is to stop at the noise test area and get the car out, warm it up and do the noise test, before putting it back in/on the trailer and going round to the trailer parking area, where you can take it back out and drive round to the garages. If you have lots of kit (tyres, fuel, fuel churns, tools etc.) you may be able to take it all round to the garages and decant it all, before going back to the parking area. This works unless you want to leave early, because I don't think they will be keen to let you back to the garages with a tow car and trailer while the track is live.
As for the noise test itself, my SR3RS failed miserably with its quiet(!!) silencer (about 103dB if I remember correctly), but with some help from the venue, it did eventually pass and never troubled the drive by meter all day. This might had involved a bit of judicious lifting where the noise meter is sited.
As above, the SR1s seem to be much quieter than the SR3s.
