997 Turbo Gen 1 prospective purchase which colour
Discussion
For me I only really wanted Cobalt. I think it suits the car well and stands out. Certainly wouldn't entertain black, grey or silver (great colours, but just too many of them). Red doesn't look right somehow, yellow I like but rare as hens teeth.
There are a few cobalts around at the moment, but when I was looking - nada. Took 18 months to find a good manual coupe, low (ish) miles, adaptive seats and rear parking.
PH lists 37 black, 21 silver, 17 white, 11 grey and 8 blue, so far from most common (though haven't checked whats already sold and mislabeled etc).
But as others say, its what floats your boat, don't buy for the next buyer.
To be honest, I don't think there's much value difference if its the usual colours. Even yellow ones that come up get snapped up quickly.

PRG ?
As bing says. It was the 997 launch colour for the American market. I have only seen the colour once and I quite liked it. Crap name though.Think its malachite green. Looks fab and I've never see one in the UK.

Was this the US launch colour?

I read that the launch colour was PRG. Both colours exist but I need to see them side by side to see the differences. To further confuse the issue, Porsche also do a British Racing Green but this is non metallic. Think its malachite green. Looks fab and I've never see one in the UK.

Seen 1 or 2 996 turbos in the Rainforest Green
Never seen this shade on a 997, I can see why though!
You're obviously still a young whippersnapper! As we get older we start to like awful colours like brown and green which we'd never have dared considered when we in our yufth!Never seen this shade on a 997, I can see why though!

Young at heart only, but as you get older your urge for a beige 997t with a vinyl roof are tempered by an appreciation of the cost of things, hence you bought one in the same tasteful colour as me!Adam B said:

Carrara White
GT Silver
Arctic Silver
These 3 for me are undoubtedly the best colours for a 997/Turbo.
All three are brilliant at showing the exquisite and stunning lines and form of the car, they do a far better job than any other colour. From the three above- there is not much in it, I would buy on miles/condition/spec.
Other colours I like and are worth considering:
Basalt Black
Meteor Grey
Blue is awful on a 997, just doesn't look right, does the car no favours. The cobalt is an awful shade. Guards red also looks wrong to me, (would not buy a red car regardless of price) and the yellow is too wild. Black is popular, and whist it's not a bad colour at all I think the 997 does maybe need a bolder and lighter colour, after all you do want it to stand out a little at least...?

I disagree .
Seriously considering purchasing a 997 Turbo at somepoint next year and my top 3 colour preferences are;
Colbalt Blue
Guards Red
and GT Silver.
I will go for a different colour if a car in fantastic condition comes availbale but I will definitely be looking for one in the colours above in the first instance.

Buy which ever colour the best condition car is and then spend a few grand having it wrapped in the exact colour you would like
coz its a pain in the arse and extra expense, and pick the wrong outfit there is a risk of damage, total last resort if you want an unusual colour IMHO or some chvtastic matte or reflective finishGassing Station | 911/Carrera GT | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
