Did anyone else compromise slightly on colour when buying their turbo?
I really wanted atlas or GT Silver but after 5 months or so, the only one I found in a decent spec was Artic Silver so I bought it.
Don't get me wrong, I love the car but there is always that little hankering for a 'darker shade' of silver.

The colour on most cars varies depending on the light. It's hard to get a good comparison of colours as pics are taken in different conditions and often with different wheels etc.

I wanted a manual with adaptive seats and sports chrono, given the latter 2 are pretty common cost options I figured I didn't need to compromise on my black or atlas/slate rule. I find arctic pretty boring but it does look ok on a turbo, so was going to see a high spec, low mileage arctic car but fortunately a black one came up shortly after.
Still not perfect, would have liked park assist and some extra leather bits inside but overall very happy
The range of pictures above sure what a good-looking car the 997 turbo is especially in conservative colours which suit its character (although I do love that green)

All three are brilliant at showing the exquisite and stunning lines and form of the car, they do a far better job than any other colour. From the three above- there is not much in it, I would buy on miles/condition/spec.

I have had number of people that have complimented my 997tt gen 1 which happens to be cobalt blue
Cobalt blue looks amazing even more so when in sunlight
The fact you had a 'number of people' compliment a cobalt blue car is irrelevant- I am sure it would be possible to find a few people to compliment a pink Turbo- would not make it a good colour.
I have seen a couple of cobalt cars- it cheapens the car and is a tacky, awkward shade of blue which makes me think of badly modified E90 3 series, or a replica M3 or something similar, it's a boy racer type colour and a 997 Turbo is a far cry from a boy racer car. All IMHO of course.
Re: the original question- if you get a silver/white/black/grey car there won't be any difference in re-sale based on the colour up or down- really does not matter as all are popular and sought after.
The only way colour could play any role in re-sale up or down is if you have a super rare sought after colour which would attract a premium (e.g. viper green/mexico blue for a 997 Turbo), or alternatively if it was unpopular/less desirable colour it may taken a lot longer to sell and sell for less.
If you want to keep it for years these considerations are less important.

Personally I'd choose Cobalt Blue over Black, Red, White but each to their own.
If you have to sell a car for less because it's perceived as a less desirable colour, then you should be able to buy it for less in the first place.

I'd argue that it's all quite subjective. One mans meat is another mans poison and all that..Personally I'd choose Cobalt Blue over Black, Red, White but each to their own.

It's not necessarily worth less, it might just take longer to find the right buyer. Depends how quickly you need the cash
Colours that polarise opinion will always be used as a negotiating tool, as the seller will argue rarity means it's worth more and the buyer will argue that it should be cheaper because of the resale.
In the end I bought on condition so ended up with an Atlas car, but had I bought the car new I would probably have gone for Cobalt.
