What is this creaking from the suspension on my 2013 FL2?

Just wanted to put this question out to the informed masses before booking it into a dealer.
My car has a very noticeable creaking/groaning from the front suspension when driving over speed humps, or up/down kerbs or any use where momentum loads and unloads the suspension.
It's worse when the car (not necessarily the air) is cold, and is loud enough to be heard if Im in the house with windows open and the wife is driving into the drive! The car manged 20k miles without making this noise, so somethings not right.
I know that being intermittent it will be perfect when I take it to the dealer to check, is there anything I can check myself?
