I am getting itchy feet and looking to find out what these cars are worth these days.

I have an agreed valuation with Adrian Flux which I believe they base on current market values.

My car is outstanding for a 98 and less than 70K with a pile of receipts.
Its on the "show us your Jag thread"

I am in no hurry to sell it, like I was last time year when I sold it and bought it back 6 months later (How are you Lester ?).

I am just keen to know whether they are potentially going up in price, currently going up or are flatlining a bit.

Don't get me wrong I am no mercenary when it comes to price but would appreciate comments regarding the market.

Thanks

Griffithy

The X308 is the last of the really beautiful Jaguar saloon cars,
it still looks phenomenal.
In R disguise it has also got the power.
It is lovely to drive and has got very nice interior.

Nice and original ones will definitely go up in price.

According to the bloke I bought mine from - flatlining right now. He had one other offer (derisory) in 3 months of trying to sell his.

It still seems like a bit of a lottery, I guess if someone really wants one they would be willing to pay a decent price

I think this is true. As the car becomes older and the less good cars die of neglect, then those good cars which remain will be worth decent money in my view - as will manual X300 XJR6s.

The X308 XJR is a car with a considerable image, big performance and also a last-of-the-line classic feel. I think it is a while off for anything dramatic, but I believe they will rise in value.

i keep thinking about selling mine as i dont use it much less than 4,000 miles in 2 years, but i still quite like it :-) and ive got another xjr parked on the drive for spares!!!
Zippys was a really nice car, but im glad it went back to him. ( yes jeremy i am doing fine, i did text you back!)
the thing is, unless you get good money for them, whats the point of selling?
i was chuffed when the fuel prices :-)

I agree. They mark the end of an era. I reckon it will not be long before they become viable as restoration projects, and prices start to rise. There was an X300 mentioned recently which had been through a 20k+ restoration and was up for something like 12k (can't remember).

Yes, they definitely will go up in value, in twenty years time. Now, they're just 15-year old "old Jags". Wish this was not the case (I own an X308), but there it is.

When I was just a boy, there was a Mk 9 for sale at a very low price. But it had a blown head gasket. I enquired at a Jaguar specialist on cost to fix the head gasket, only to be advised that a "Mk 9 was worth less than the cost of head gasket repair".

A bit like an X308 needing all four tyres, I think.

What sort of money does it cost to buy a reasonable one. I've always been a fan and my 9 year old din keeps on at me to get a jag

It's a bit swings and roundabouts really regarding cost, you can pick them up for £2k but these need work, or there are some fine cherished examples around which can fetch £6 or £7k.
It's like any other car in this regard really.
The big job is timing chains which can be £1200.

Good to hear from you Lester.
Someone stopped me the other day after spotting mine and his words were "that's the business". Always nice to hear.
Just bought a new headlining from Jag headlinings .com, I reckon they are a bargain.
Gotta get round to fitting it in time for the Spring.
Itchy feet have gone away again ha ha ! There is just nothing else that looks this good or with this performance in the price range for me, looked at the S class, again, but the cost of suspension repairs pretty much writes them off for me..... Then I open the garage door and that big daft grin appears....

I think with petrol at a quid people are seeing the prudence in a 4/4.2 litre supercharged V8 compared to 130/l which is helping values no doubt.

If only converting them to LPG was a little easier I would be back in an X308. I loved mine but at 16mpg on petrol it wasn't suitable as a daily driver.

Hi,

I think that they are going up in value current agreed valuation with Adrian Flux Insurance last year was £12k, however they only agreed to £10k this year without a decent explanation despite the car still being pristine. They won’t be used again !

Mine is 98 x308 XJR, 75k miles, sadly and very possibly being sold soon !
