Background is that we have 3 retail outlets, and were looking to get a web prescence with an e commerce site to sit alongside the shops and gradually build up into its own stand alone business.

We now have a website that was made for ourselves based on some sort of standard platform - we wanted something fairly custom made due to the nature of the products we sell, so used a local company who seemed to have a good reputation for results both for easy access to iron out bugs and to discuss ideas to get the site built.

All was well and sales on the website were very slowly starting to come in then our local web company were 'bought out' by a much bigger concern and our point of contact (The ex owner of the company) has now turned into a sales rep for the new company, and customer service seems to have gone out of the window.

Sales on our website have stalled, and we don't feel that we are getting any value for money for our monthly support/seo charges of £500 per month at all.

Does any one on PH have any suggestions as to a company that could work for us, assuming we can actually get 'our site' off the existing company?

All suggestions gratefully received. !

What are they doing for the £500 a month?

We can help if you want a new build, but we don't take on half finished projects.

If you can get the site off your existing provider then I would be able to help you find new hosting and sort the deployment strategy along with things like backups (which are actually tested rather than based on hope).

Feel free to PM me if you'd like to chat further.

Are you measuring sales from the site against the constant tweaking of SEO?

There are not enough sales to measure against anything.

I suppose it is just a general lack of confidence in the company, there are no explanations at all as to what work they do/have done. No communication from them whatsoever.

I sent an email last Friday to the company asking to have a discussion with them, yet despite 2 emails from them telling me I would get a call I am still waiting.

Stop paying! £500 is an obscene amount if you're not getting an ROI, or even a description of what is going on.

Obviously hosting and SEO are separate, so I'd say you could stop the SEO part and not rock the boat too much.

Thanks, that is exactly what I was thinking.

I did say that by email to them yesterday, BUT...no response.!
