As long as you don't live in a council house with a Ferrari on the drive I personally couldn't care less about the differential.
As I say, I understand why someone would cut back on housing costs to get their dream car, but it is obviously the sort of thing which rubs some people up the wrong way and can cause negative feedback from a jealous neighbour or people in the area. If you live in an area where everyone has £1m+ houses, a £100k car isn't really going to be a big deal, probably a few of your neighbours will have them too. Of course I think it would be better if people weren't like that, but that's just how it is. I don't think it's anything to do with being young.

Love the 599, I'd probably get it in black, but still very nice in red. My neighbour has an F12 (mental thing that is) but I still think the 599 actually sounds better, and still so crazy fast - I remember flooring it for the first time on the M3, wow!!! If there was a targa version readily available I'd get one, just don't really have enough use for a fixed roof car.

And, without trying to be rude, it's probably more to do with the area you live than your age. It is usually considered bad taste to have car value / house value so out of balance to the norm! I get it and totally understand cutting back on house cost to get the car of your dreams, not that I would, but it's the sort of thing that makes people annoyed, a weird psychological thing. If you find your age causes bad attention online just don't mention it lol. PistonHeads is full of cynics anyway so you can't take it personally haha.

Anyway, keep on posting as it's always great to see opinions from someone who has driven these exciting models against each other.

Have you tried the 458 yet? If not get into one ASAP, I think you will agree with me in saying it is the best car ever! I'm just waiting for the spider to drop a bit more as can't have that sort of depreciation on a car I only use now and again.

The first picture is taken outside my uncles house, I don't think the car is too out of proportion to my house, theres a couple of other good cars on the start 911 turbo etc. The house is the best I could get a mortgage on with only being in business 2 years and not long out of uni its 4 bedroom and detached which as we are finding is to big for me and the mrs as barely use any of the rooms. I only went for that size as I wanted a big drive and detached garage. I think anyone any age can be the victim of jealousy with cars like this. I get much less comments than a couple of years ago as have aged quickly the last 2 years so most people think I am 30 odd. Maybe I will post again on readers car at somepoint, I have had lots of emails off people over last 12 months asking my to do updates like I used to. The main slate I used to get was that I still lived at home, maybe now I am a home owner its more acceptable....

Reference 458, I test drove one at Graypaul and could not get over its useable performance. It seemed to rev and rev and rev! The car i looked at was low miles in red with crema but no shields and it had been for sale there for nearly a year. Was up at £154k when I viewed and i got offered it close to £140k... why didn't I buy one? For one I would have needed some finance and I am a strong believer in buying what you can afford without borrowing (although ferrari 50% residual finance offer was very tempting) Secondly I am in the motortrade and could not stomach making a loss on a car, the 458s still have a way to drop and the market is flooded with cars most are still for sale now that were when I was looking in September. I will own one eventually, as the test drive was addictive. Oddly it reminded me of a Naturally aspirated more nimble and involving/exciting GTR to drive.

Meh, then I am lost as to why you were getting any flak, I just don't buy the age thing as I've had a couple of the cars you have during early 20s and NEVER had a single negative comment, except driving through London once and a girl shouted to me (roof down in my SL): "OI! ARE YOU A BANKER??". Wasn't really sure how to take that, not sure if it is even a negative comment. Other than that it's always been comments about the car, but then maybe it's because I work too much and don't take care of myself so always look at least 10 years older than I am LOL.

Yeah agreed, I was at a track day in my F430 when there was a 458 which was available for anyone to use, so of course I went out for a blast in it and absolutely fell in love. It felt bigger than the F430 but it also felt so much more manoeuvrable and I felt so confident in it. That's cool, do you trade in these sorts of cars? Would be nice to have an excuse to buy them without feeling guilty about how much they will end up costing!!

I lived in an (ex) council flat and had a 911. Had no money but I had a 911. Joyful.

No negative comments from neighbours or incidents.

Maserati and DBS would be disappointing compared to the C63, its just such a fun car.

I would be looking at the Black Series or a Gallardo for that money. I know the Lambo isn't practical for everyday, but just get a station snotter!

Sorry I've been off line Pistonheaders! Yesterday was spent testing cars and decisions have been made.

-The SLS Roadster is an animal. The noise is absurd and it looks amazing on the road. Steering was better than anything I've driven. A great road car.

-DBS, best looking car on the road. Didn't enjoy the manual, although it did seem to pull harder than the semi-auto. I feel inside is a little uninspired and generally a boring place to sit. The noise from the outside is incredible, but inside it is silent.

-The Bentley Supersports is my favourite and I am now just trying to find one in the right colour. The performance is insane. It was soaking wet and the test driver was encouraging me to drive in such a way that was incomprehensible having lived with a C63 for some time, but the SS just gets on with it. It's by far the nicest interior I've ever seen and with the Sport Exhaust is louder that the AMG. The full package.

I'll report back with some pictures once I get it. Thanks for everyone's help!

So you preferred the Bentley SS to the Merc SLS?? The SLS does have a truly amazing soundtrack, one of my favourites. Is that a coupe or convertible that you are looking at for the Bentley? I'd be interested in hearing how good you felt the handling was, on a car that heavy, plus with AWD just can't ever imagine it would be that involving!

Simples, get a manual box 911 turbo and when the whoosh kicks in from these turbos you'll be holding on for dear life!! This would be a 997 gen 1 or 2. It gets to 60 so quick that usually by the time you glance down it's already well past it, so for me 0-60 almost becomes irrelevant, 0-100 is a quick time and puts a smile on your face the few times you use anywhere near all that power, but nice knowing it's there or experiencing it in mild bursts!

I say manual box as even though the pdk is quicker, I feel more adrenaline in the manual with the driver connection and involvement. 991 turbo is a play station car, drove one in pouring down rain and have no idea how much gadgetry it must have to be able to deliver such masses of power so effortlessly. Not same adrenaline rush for me as it makes it too easy.
