Has anybody had this happen before?

Soon after the display reset itself and the sat nav became functional again.

Only lost the Digital radio signal at odd times, not sure what that could be TBH.

Pretty sure i've had that happen once before, but as per your experience, it rectified itself fairly quickly & didn't leave behind a fault code so i assumed it was a German gremlin behind the dashsmile

Bizarrely my F10 M5 did exactly the same thing Wednesday morning, just pulled over and turned the car off then on, the only odd thing is that pushing the start button twice to stop the engine , then turn off idrive radio etc, left the radio on? Seemed fine after that

Mine did this earlier this week.

I kept on driving and after about 5 minutes it reset itself.

Mine did this too last week. After a couple of minutes everything rebooted and carried on as normal.

I spoke to the dealership and they said that this can happen to new cars but it should settle down soon...

Sounds like classic bull to me but as I don't have time to lose a day for them to have my car I'll go with it for now.

This has happened to my May 2015 build M5 (F10 LCI) as well. It has Harman/Kardon surround sound (I don't know if this makes a difference).

Did anyone find a solution to this? Is there a software update for it, or is it literally faulty wiring/connectors/modules?

It never happened again on my car, so I would suggest it’s probably nothing to worry about.

Happened too on my F20. Once and been faultless since.

Happened to me when parked very close to an electricity sub station with power lines overhead in my F31. Hasn't happened since.

Had a similar thing in a Clio years back where it wouldn't start for any reason in a service station car park. AA man happened to be walking past, suggested the immobiliser was being affected by the mobile phone mast and to push it away from it. Did that and it worked!

I guess its perhaps some sort of induced current?

Bit of a thread revival but my 430 has been doing this 'no signal' thing recently.

Been in once for a software update. Did nothing.

Just got it back today having had the whole head unit replaced by BMW under warranty. They said it was a hardware issue hence the change.

Can only hope its fully fixed now!
