Hi all, I accidentally bought the below. It was mega cheap, and I thought it was just a normal Exige model, with slightly odd wheels until I got it home and opened it up!

Seems it's a body kit for a Kyosho Mini-Z.

I've done a bit of Googling, and it seems you can buy several different versions. In the kit I have it says you need a chassis and radio gear. Has anyone any experience of these? Just wondering whether to leave it as a model, or try and get the chassis and gear.

Ta smile

I used to have an overland (4x4) version and it was great, quite fast, handled well, battery lasted quite a time and range was brilliant.

Used to enjoy building tracks around the lounge out of cushions, and crashing the cat.

Personally I love the small scale rc, Kyoto mini z are up there with the best

Cheers!

I'm still reading up on which chassis etc might be best for someone who wants to do a bit of radiator bothering in the front room! Any suggestions?

The Lotus set come with a MR03-N-RM chassis, but you can modify the basic MR03 to all variants with new wishbones etc.

Great fun little things, I had an Impreza and an F40.

They're really pretty things. Which is why you should probably buy a spare body if you are precious about it!

If you're a fan of Gran Turismo they're great because the models available have typically been in the video game series in the past.

I've never 'bitten the bullet' on one because they're quite expensive - you could have a decent 1/10 scale car for what it can cost to buy a Mini-Z brand new. That's not to say I don't want one however...

They were my "gateway" RC. I've still got a shelf of them at home. Well detailed bodies, full proportional control, very upgradeable and bloody fun!

Started with a first generation (MR-01) about 8 or 9 years ago. Three years later I totted up what I'd spent on kits, upgrades and accessories, and it came to a couple of grand.

What you have there is one of the bodyshells they use, on its dummy display case.

You can get chassis kits with a radio, though I'd go for an RTR set, so you can keep the nice body unscratched.

Thanks for the replies chaps. The body only cost a fiver, and once word got out that they were RC car basis, another three mates bought one today!

So, I reckon the plan is to get it driveable and have a laugh!

I can't find just a chassis and radio kit though? So may have to buy the cheapest ready to race one and bung the Exige body on smile
