I love these but I don't know why! The ones with the cars right at the edge are fab but they seem like they shouldn't work. Help?
Thank you and also for the kind comments that followed which explained the process very well.

Lloyd, massive fan of your work, but this, in my opinion, is one of your finest yet.

All of these images seem so 'crisp' compared to any I've taken, is that down to editing? equipment?

I'm using a D3100 on a kit lens, is it my camera or lens that is letting me down or have I just not gelled with this photograph lark yet?

A lot is post processing. Cameras do so much, we have to do the rest. If you resize, you'll lose most of the hard edges.

Some truly stunning photos here chaps.

How do you narrow it down to just 5, it's not easy. I will return with my efforts in a few days.

I think you can guess where my interests lie!

Disappointed with the 2 lancs, I hired a 100-400l for the day, and could not get along with it.

This is definitely one of my favourite threads of the year in this forum, it's seriously insane the level of talent we have in here for it being a sub-section on a "car forum".

Being back in the USA most of this past year meant I could return to some of my favourite spots on the west coast such as Yosemite, Crater Lake etc, so they feature high in my personal favourite shots from this past year. It certainly wasn't easy picking my favourite 5, leaving out shots of double rainbows over a tourist boat in the middle of the spray at Niagara Falls, sunrise over half dome, storms rolling over the old man of storr and double rainbows following behind, and of course some of my first "phone app" released shots from the 6D of me and Mrs Baz in full tartan wedding outfits out having a laugh on Vatersay and several other spots on the hebrides in August/September this year for phase 1 of our honeymoon.

Anyhoo, in no particular order here's the first of my 5 favs from this year, taken the same day as number 2 after getting up at stupid o'clock to kick off what would be a long day of driving and snapping, sunrise over the Golden Gate Bridge north of San Francisco.

San Francisco Sunrise Teaser 1 by www.bazpics.com, on Flickr

Number 2, shot later in the same day while enjoying the late winter snowcaps and being showered with ice from the trees surrounding the South West shore of Lake Tahoe.

Lake Tahoe - 140 by www.bazpics.com, on Flickr

Number 3, my first visit of what turned out to be five trips to Yosemite this year (7th time in the last 12 years), and features Mirror Lake....with me spending the best part of 2 hours shooting around the lake to try and capture the reflections in the perfectly still water (as it was a particularly windy day all in all).

Yosemite Teaser 3 by www.bazpics.com, on Flickr

Number 4 on this years list is from my visit to Crater Lake, quite simply as I couldn't have picked a better day to capture those absolutely surreal blues in the lake, it really is a place that has to be seen in the flesh to be believed. So many people don't believe the water can possibly be so blue, but after you've stood on the crater rim for your first time you never doubt it again.

Crater Lake - 145 by www.bazpics.com, on Flickr

And number 5, somewhere that I find myself just sitting on the wall in awe every single time I visit, and it never ever gets boring to do so...tunnel view in Yosemite.

Yosemite - 328 by www.bazpics.com, on Flickr
Gorgeous photographs. Yosemite really does it for me. I have only been once and for a short time but I am in love with that place! Americans are spoiled by nature and you can see why many don't do a lot of international travel... why would you when you have so many awesome places in your own country, and for every taste too! They have it all and then some.

There are some truly awesome images in the collection here - It's clear we have some very talented landscape photographers in the mix.

I've had a very busy year, primarily knocking an old house into shape, but have made time for some assignments photographing dogs too. Here are 5 images that I actually got around to uploading -

1 - Aberdeen Angus Mother and Calf. One of a collection of pics for a local breeder.

2 - Ivo catching the breeze

3 - uMoya starting to enjoy some dog agility.

4 - Rat Trap at Dragstalgia.

5 - It's a low quality mobile phone pic, but this was an important moment as our pup was first introduced to sheep.

Here's to a great 2015! I'm lined up with some dog photography to do early in the new year, then lots and lots of cats and kittens in spring/summer :-)

It's inspiring to look through this thread and see everyone's different style. I only really got into photography this year, in particular I love taking photos at night, the setting up and wandering around looking for 'my' shot. Anyway here's my top 5.

'No Limit' track day this year. Working on my depth of field with this one.

'Ghost' from Tower Bridge after some heavy rain. Working on light trails and night photos, got lucky with the silhouette of the person walking along, it makes the shot for me

'Jellied Eagles' An F15 Strike Eagle lights the fires departing RAF Lakenheath, turning the others into jelly in the process.

'Calm Skye' I like this one because it's simple but has a good atmosphere to it showing the calm of a lake on the island of Skye at sunset.

'Storm Maker' A lone 41 Sqaudron Tornado return to RAF Coningsby after a research sortie. I like this because of the light and how sinister the jet looks this close on approach.

I love this, and the "random photo" thread. Such quality.

Here's my 5. Only got the camera this year and haven't really done as much with it as I'd have liked. New Year's resolution maybe. In no particular order:

1) One of my watches. Pleased how this came out as I was using an iPad screen as a light source!

The Seamaster (2) by Chris_Aero1, on Flickr

2) At Haynes Motor Museum. Only used the 35mm f1.8 that day as I forgot the 18-55. This probably isn't a technically good photo, but I like the vintage workshop-y feel I get from it smile

Classic Brits by Chris_Aero1, on Flickr

3) Concorde at Filton (ex)airfield. Taken handheld on a windy day from behind a fence with a kit lens in semi darkness. Quite pleased considering, and shows the state the airfield was in then.

Concorde by Chris_Aero1, on Flickr

4) Nothing too exciting. Taken just after slip-sliding my way back up the verge from photographing Concorde. Handheld, long exposure. Thank goodness for VR smile

Evening road by Chris_Aero1, on Flickr

5) And finally, this one taken after the first Seamaster shot, as I was putting it in the box for the night. The lens is a 70-300 and it's almost at 300mm here. I thought I'd see if I could get two of the watches together. Nearly managed. Again, iPad being used as a makeshift softbox smile

A-sea-metrical. Ahem. by Chris_Aero1, on Flickr

I think I need to do more with the equipment I have. I was able to get it all for silly low prices bar the tripod, so it'd be a shame not to make more use of it! Hopefully I'll start appearing in the "random photos" thread more often as well smile
