It's coming to the end of another year. How has your year gone?

In particular, what have you been most proud of?

It might only be a small thing, perhaps you helped the old lady over the road with getting some shopping in, or maybe it's something big - you single-handedly saved the world from terrorism using only a packet of hubba-bubba, some fishing wire and a small paperclip.

Either way, we've all done something we should be proud of this year even if we've been through st and made mistakes.

What a year!

Really started for me at end November 2013 - left my partner of 14 years as I couldn't cope with her bi-polar disorder any more. Resigned from my job but they kindly offered me a four month sabbatical instead; so I flew out of UK on Christmas day to spend 10 days in Thailand with friends who were going there on holiday anyway.

New year at a small beach club - the three of us drinking from 'Thai buckets'!

Next flew to Bali to stay with another friend, she lives out there. Met an amazing 28 year old restaurant manager on my second day there - ended up in a relationship with her that lasted most of this year (I have been back to Bali and also met her in Istanbul).

Climbed a volcano for sunrise, went to Vietnam with a female friend who came out to see me. Had some mental nights out with her in Vietnam, met some great people.

Travelled around Japan for two weeks with friend from Bali, visited HK, learnt to swim properly (shameful really at 46!).

Put house on the market and took it off again.

Spent a lot of time staying at friends - living out of my rucksack; learning that I don't need as much stuff as I thought I did.

Nearly moved my life to Indonesia but bottled it...couldn't leave friends and family here. Explaining this to my girlfriend there broke my heart and I may have made the biggest mistake of my life...just didn't have the balls to move.

Saved a woman's life in Jakarta - ended up covered head to foot in her blood but she lived.

Woke up in a bed next to my friend from Bali with two drunken Japanese salary-men sleeping in the bed next to us then had to run to catch a bullet train.

Went to a robot restaurant!

Spent a lot of time with Indonesians in their homes, learnt a lot and what lovely people they are.

Stayed in a big hotel (with Bali girlfriend) where we were literally the only guests - stuck the Bose on max and danced drunk around the whole place.

Saw Mount Fuji covered in snow.

Now have a fantastic new girlfriend here in the UK, which is going well.

Work is back on track.

Lots more I could add....what a year!!

Finally dragged my arse and guitars out of the house to form a band. Organised our own charity fundraiser and gave more than £1k to Leukaemia Research in memory of my Mum.

Hmmm maybe I shouldn't have put the ages in there...biggrin

Current one is a much older 38. Going well and I hope is long-term.

Actually I have been quite amazed at the interest from women since my split. Read some of these threads on here re internet dating and 'boo-hoo I'm single' - just go out and talk to people; its very easy!

Every year a little wiser, mainly because I realize how stupid/naive I was the preceding year(s).

Nothing of note in 2014 though.

Thought there must be more to it hehe

Nice looking watch. Did you have anything to do with the SW3? I'm getting one for Christmas.

Anyway, this year I did the London Marathon for charity which I'm proud of.
