How does the car initially move? It looks like the Megane catches it but if you pause the video at 15seconds the Megane has already passed the rear of the parked car and it hasnt moved?

Bookmarked. Hope your Dad's outlays are reimbursed fully-shouldn't the police take interest in this giving it's leaving the scene without exchanging details? (Can't remember the exact wording of the offence)

The same from this angle too. Megane has already passed the parked car before it moves???

Having watched the second video from 28 seconds in:

http://youtu.be/N7v3nzEtgh0?t=28s

I think the Megane clipped wing mirrors with the other car. The blue car is close the the centre line and the Megane is straddling it. The Megane doesn't give way and carries on, clips the mirror and in a fit of rage attempts a three point turn, so they can chase the blue car, misjudges completely and drives off.

Noooo, stop it.......... Megane hits parked car, due to on-coming black car.......reverses to get to black cars owner, misjudges the whole thing.......drives off, (big mistake).....end of. There's nothing sinister about it, just a bit of road rage + nob-head. Sorry for OP's dad.

MLH, I don't think the car "moves", If you watch the second video http://youtu.be/N7v3nzEtgh0

In particular the second clip in the video as it is clearer. If you watch from 22 seconds in, the clock in the corner reads 17:13:39 and the car is against the curb Then at 24 seconds the video jumps back to 17:13:18, and shows the car away from the curb, this was its starting position before being crashed into. Somehow when the video has been edited 2 very short segments of video from each camera has ended up in the wrong place

thumbup

Looks like the Megane ends up with quite a dent in the rear.
It's unlikely there will be any damage on the bumper as they tend to reform perfectly. Mine did on my Clio after a rear end bump.

That makes a lot of sense. In the second vid the parked car doesn't 'jump' from the kerb as the megane passes. So the plastic trim is from the wing-mirror collision.

Also, it looks like the road narrows signifcantly in the direction the megane comes from?

Oh dear, I'm afraid I have one of those disappointing damp squib endings to the thread...

Police aren't interested (they made that clear a while ago apparently). My Dad just called the insurance company with the new info, and they're not interested in pursuing it either.

If I was in my Dad's position, I'd be trying to find the Megane and a bag of frozen sausages. However, it looks like nothing will come of this...

Well that is incredibly frustrating.

Annoying that the police aren't interested, video evidence, witnesses and now the full registration number. Surely the driver has committed some offence?

Have you tried contacting the Motor Insurance Bureau?

On what basis, I work in motor insurance claims, and they should be pursuing this for your dad, If someone came to me in this situation and I advised them we wouldnt even try to claim from them, I would be sacked before I could reach the door! Make a complaint, and find out why, as they should be pursuing it for you.

The police should go to the RK's house and give him the opportunity to come clean.

They did similar for me "you were seen by CCTV".

If he still denies it then technically I guess not a lot can be done, but doubtful that would happen.

Strange replies from the two parties who should show an interest, police and insurance !!! As with recent replies, you might just be getting the stock initial, 'don't care' answers. Don't know how far you can push the police on this, but a visit from them, might at least put a fright up the driver, and you never know the outcome, with all the 'evidence'gathered. As far as the insurance are concerned, well your dads paid a premium to them, they've taken his excess off him, and then basically told him to 'shove it'. Sorry, not acceptable, complaint to them, to the ombudsman, and whoever else might be relevant. Try writing to Honest John at the Telegraph, he's known for giving out good advise, and contacts to try. Are you with the AA/RAC, they have legal departments, try them out. Really bad form from both professional parties frown

Interesting. Had a similar event a year back, and wasn't aware of this. Assuming you have fully comp I suspect it's not worth it as MIB imply there's a £300 excess. And you still need to notify your insurer of course.

When I tried to get a claim through MIB we got nowhere because the driver was untraced rather than merely uninsured; third party was on cloned plates so we had no-one to claim from and MIB weren't interested.

It sounds to me like the insurance company is being lazy in this thread (has the excess already been paid?) and the OP's dad should push his insurers for a more appropriate answer.

A few years so I was knocked off my bike by someone who didn't stop & suffered serious leg & knee injuries.

It took me almost 2 years to walk unaided due to the damage caused.

Claimed via MIB who where extremely good & helpful. I received a reasonable payout which was more than I got from my own insurance company.

Fill in this form, and do with the information what you wish:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/v888-re...

Attach stills from your cctv and photographs as evidence that the purpose is legitimate. They replied to me with information within two weeks.

Also pursue a complaint to the insurance company and try the police again.
