On a trailer being towed by a Land Rover just past Gordano Services, heading northbound, late this afternoon.

I'm assuming it was a fibre glass replica it was broken down into three sections. Fuselage & the two wings wich were strapped to the trailer.

Utterly pointless post however it isn't every day that you see a Spitfire being towed by a Land Rover just outside Bristol!!!!!

When I was in the car park at Barafundle Bay this year I saw a Land Rover (IIRC) with something about a Pembrokeshire/Welsh Spitfire written on the side. I bit of Googling revealed this website:

http://welshspitfire.org/history/

Looks like they use a Spitfire on a trailer too for some events:

They used to have a charity shop in Pembroke town centre. I don't know if it's still there.

Haverfordwest according to the website:

I'll go next year and have a poke around and buy something. I'm looking forward to visiting the Flying Boat Centre in Pembroke Dock again too. The two volunteers there were fantastic with the kids - way, way better than any interactive display in a 'state-of-the-art' museum. They really deserve some support.

They've obviously moved it. It used to be in a small arcade in Pembroke.

They are actually restoring a real MkVIII I think.

I couldn't see any markings as it was getting dark & the wings were folded against the fuselage.

It looked lovely even in pieces strapped to a trailer.

I want one!

There was a spitfire and a focke wulf in coventry city centre on display a few years ago, both fibreglass replicas, still nice though.
