Trying to establish a couple of things relating to my latest purchase a 1964 w111 220 se coupe. Can anyone advise if I need to carry out modification to the valve seats to run on unleaded fuel and secondly is the car assembled with metric or imperial fixings. apreciate any help .

Ze Germans don't do imperial. As for unleaded, you should be ok but depends on state of engine and previous maintenance. Depends where you are, Doug Barton in market harborough is the man for all things classic mercedes. Ping me if you want his number

It has been so many years since we have generally been using unleaded, what has the car been running on all these years? With no obvious ill effects?

If it had been running on unleaded, I would continue to do so.
