reversing my car tonight in the dark watching out that i dont hit the bright red car to my left and completely miss the fact that theres a dark coloured car to my right!!!! Only the lightest of taps but enough to scuff up the europa bodywork a little and take theres down to the primer. Somehow lotus paint is stronger than audi paint! Knocked on their door and gave them my details and put a request for revive to call me back but so annoyed that ive scratched my car and caus d someone else the inconvenience of having to have theirs repaired. Only about a 10cm scratch on wheel arch for the other party which its suggested will be about £140 but absolutely gutted.

Feel free to ignore or call me a dick just needed to vent.

As you were.

Nice to hear about someone coming clean, credit for that.

Stuff happens and it sounds an easy repair

It's the self inflicted ones that hurt the most. But everyone fouls up sometimes.

Stupidly I was trying to get the car out of the way of others so they didn't hit it as it was in a dark area and its not the easiest car to see what with it being so low, i believe they call it irony!

Will probably just leave my car as it is as plan on keeping it for quite a while but their was a fairly new car. Hopefully they will be happy with my suggestion for a repairer and we can all just move on.

Great thread title. In sure £140.00 is not the end of the world or try fixing yourself with colour matching some paint. PITA but there's worse things in the world mate. At least you're not sleeping rough this xmas.

Its not the money, although we could all do with it, and its not even the mess on my car. Its the fact that someone was minding their own business in their house and me being a dhead have scratched their car and caused them the inconvenience of having to wait in for a repairer.

I'm not trying to make me out to be a saint or anything and to be fair they didn't seem to fussed but I just know how annoyed I would be if in were them.

Kazste, read back what I wrote and came across as a bit of a dick, sorry. Yes it is a pain in the arse so my sympathies. Hope you and your neighbour can sort it amicably. As you were!

I hope that it will be done sensibly but yes I am a little concerned that the costs may spiral. Its not my neighbour but a friends neighbour and not really close to where I live. I gave them my details but never asked for theirs and they said they would sort it and let me know.

As above hopefully when I get a call from the company I've had the estimate from we will work something out as no dent on their car as alreadynsaid just a line of paint took off on the sharp edge of the shell arch.

Oh well.

Bummer, still best to make a low speed mistake than a high speed one. £140 sounds about right.
