Eye bloodshot and sticky
Discussion
I've had this for a few days, and the drops I using, Brolene, don't seem to be having any effect.
As my doctors have a 2 week wait for appointments, I'm stuck. A bit of research suggests cleaning the eye regulary it will go away by itself but it may take up to 2 weeks. I can't wait that long as my eye is so gross it is frightening the children.
Anyone any tips or had something similar and can suggest something that works?

Google for a local gp walk in clinic.
If your gp genuinely has a 2week wait then switch doctors.
I've been having some eye troubles myself recently, rang at 8am, in the consulting room at 9.10am. This was on Friday, obvs it's a bit tricky on a Sunday. You should have a walk in clinic somewhere though.

1. Go to your local pharmacy and ask if they can suggest anything
2. If no better tomorrow morning, phone your GP and ask for an appointment that day. If a 2 week wait really is the best they can do, then change your GP as others have suggested.
3. NHS 111 might be worth a try. They tend to follow flow chart based diagnosis, but can be the way to access GP services out of hours.
4. Your local ED will probably be a slow, inefficient and poor way of dealing with this, although without any way of assessing the severity of what's wrong with your eye, no-one on the internet can say this for certain!

Well, I had a similar eye a few months ago. It just appeared one day, no idea what caused it.
It didn't hurt at all, just ached and it cleared up by itself within a few days.
However, I got really fed up with everyone saying "what have you done to your eye?"
Mine started with an itching and began to water. As it got worse I attended a walk-in centre and they removed a lash they though had caused some irritation. That evening we went out for dinner and it got worse still, so I went to A&E. The doc stained my eye with some orange drops and said it was pretty crusty. I needed antibiotics applied via drops and it cleared up with 3 days. It was bloody sore while it lasted though. My first eye infection in over 40 years. Hopefully the last.
