Fligh Simulator X - Steam

All - have purchased flight simulator X in the steam sale - I am not serious about this sort of thing, so just spent a tenner on it to muck around really.

However, it has become clear very clearly that a keyboard is hopelessly inadequate as a control medium - it is almost impossible to tell what way your controls are point meaning you just get increasingly drastic plane tank slappers.

I have an xbox controller so if I buy a wirelss controller adaptor for the PC, will this 'do' or will it be equally impossible, leaving me no choice but to spend money on a joy stick (which I am not really sufficiently keen on it to do to be honest)

I use an eBay special wired fake xbox controller. Not as good as a proper joystick etc, but for a tenner it's more than enough along with the mouse for me. The wireless adapter to make 360 controllers I thought was a bit too pricey and the wired one has a miles long lead anyway

That's what I use, and was recommended by my friend who's got the full yoke, throttles and pedals. I only go on it every few months but you would struggle with anything else.
