Do none of them ever think hang on, they've sold millions of tickets all across Europe for 2 draws and nobody won

Even the chance of somebody in your town winning it must be millions to one .
116,531,799 to 1 for Euromillions
So you're saying there's a chance?

I should win, I think I'd be good at it.

I've spent money nearly all my life so have good experience.

I'm so good at it I spend other people's money when I've ran out of my own laugh

You need to be in it to win it. Its a couple of quid & the possibility of it being life changing is incredible.
Luck shines on many people.

rofl

Maths fail.

Unless you live in a very small town. If you sell 117 or more tickets in your town, the chances of someone in your town winning the Euro lotto is better than a million to one.

What happened to the OP? Has he topped himself after his colleague turned up in a Lambo?

I like to play now and again. If I ever did win (and yes, I am fully aware the odds not in my favour, even worse than The Hunger Games) I'd have a great time helping people out. And I'd have a few toys myself.

I think there's the expectation that if you win you essentially blow the lot with extravagance or charity in a matter of weeks.

I'd be more considered with my extravagance smile

Nope, not at all

And a Lambo would be a lot slower for the commute home in the traffic than my 30y old Raleigh

How about this one:

Statistically, playing the lottery is going to give you a better return on your investment that if you put the money into Premium Bonds.... where you don't actually ever lose your stake.

I'd buy every Mercedes W124 300e 4 door on the market and restore them to as new condition. I would keep them in various garages and employ people to drive them about different places in the UK.

That can't be correct unless you're ignoring the return of your stake. Premium Bonds, taking into account getting your money out again, have a return greater than 100%.

Or are you adding in inflation? Not sure even that would be true anyway.

My dad still does it at 81 , no idea why, he can barely walk , it's not like a new body is available for 150k

I dread to think how much he's spent on it over the last 20 years, probably in excess of £15,000

It really is a mugs game, the euro millions makes me laugh, ticket sales go through the roof when it's a triple rollover €120,000,000

Like €50,000,000 isn't enough

Do none of them ever think hang on, they've sold millions of tickets all across Europe for 2 draws and nobody won

do you not think maybe he would get some enjoyment of setting up his family for life, and witnessing that for his last few years? Maybe he's thinking that, rather than just doing it for himself?

if i won big i'd still need to have a focus in life, whether start my own business - and by that i mean distillery or brewery, maybe a farm, nice hotel... not a recruitment consultancy or something st - maybe do up houses, i don't know, anything. I couldn't just sit on my arse playing xbox in gold y-fronts. I'd go mental thinking i wasn't bringing something half decent to the world, given the opportunity to do so. I hate the thought of someone who could do good, just using it as a support system to do and achieve nothing, out of pure laziness, when many people work their arse off for barely a living wage.

The bonus ball is only relevant if you have 5 numbers.

In the past six months those numbers would have won you £50 that's much better than my regular lucky dip....

Turning out the drawers, as you do, I came a cross this old piece of history. For those old enough to remember, before the lottery we all dreamed of picking the eight draws on the football pools. It was the only way to win big money. Well, here's the proof of my success - 24 points, eight draws and a first dividend. Except, as you'll see, there were 17 draws that weekend and the sum did not change my lifestyle!
