After owning one at the age of 19, I've always been a fan of these cars.

had the opportunity to buy a '93 4.0 sovereign in Flamenco Red metallic, so took the chance.

here she is in all her glory (before being washed!):

Low mileage with s/history and MOTs to back it up.

A few wee tweaks to be done then she'll be a nice little smoker.

full details of the collection epic can be found on my blog at

https://fuguttycars.wordpress.com/2014/12/21/i-cou...

Hope you like the car?!

Very nice! My best mate has just bought a 1990 Sovereign to replace his Mondeo temporarily as it's got valve trouble. 395 quid handed over for it and even though it's done intergalactic mileage seems to be a lovely car, so far! biggrin

Is there any other type of planning with a cool vehicle? No, I think not! biggrin

Looking forward to updates, and good luck.

I imagine the mondeo may stay off the road-a big barge like this is really one of the finest ways to travel!

Thanks- it'll be keeping the sov headlights, not a big fan of the circular ones. Have plenty circular lights on my e30s

Love it, OP. Is that piping on the seats I spy through the window?

Keep the correct Sovereign lights too.
Thanks! I'm enjoying it more each time I see it

Yes it has red piping on the seats-lovely place to be cocooned insmile

Too right, I had a go up the road in it and couldn't believe how comfortable it is compared to my XJS, lovely cars!
Here it is:

Not perfect by a long stretch and on poverty spec wheels, but still an awful lot of motor for that money.

Such a handsome car! biggrin I love the colour combination of your Jag - it's one of the best.

I love mine. They drive so well - a lot of people on Piston Heads don't realise just how good the XJ40 is. It seemed to get swept away with the "British cars are rubbish" thing, though that seems to be changing now.

I look forward to reading about your exploits as they unfold - hopefully not too many of them rust related...

For sure.

It's the little touches, like the ashtrays in the rear doors and adjustable rear reading lights that make it. And the leather strap grab handles in the rear.
Yep,a few little touches make all the differencesmile
