We're car enthusiasts, of course we care.

If it doesn't interest you in the slightest, may I suggest a different website?
No, you may not.

I had a ride in a 6R4 in the 80s. It made an Integrale seem pedestrian smile

0to 60 3.2secs. 350bhp for a car weighing the same as a shoe box.
Would be an interesting challenge for TG.

I think it came out a bit late to challenge in the Rally World but I think it would be a good festure classic rally car Versus new super Car.

It would be excellent feature, the 6R4 is meant to be a bit of a handful, knocking on for 500hp per tonne I believe.

I am not a big Metro fan by any means but it was an era where Rally Cars became too fast to handle and although 30 years old now it would still put in a decent lap.

Disagree,

By modern days standards, they are nothing special, the world has moved on big time.

Don't get me wring, i love that era of cars, but they simply can't hold a candle to stuff available now.

There's a 6R4 runs in time attack, compare its laptimes to Gt, carrera cup, etc.

most were set up for Rallying so it all depends on the set up but it power to weight and 0=60mph for a 30 year old car is still very competitive.

On Forest Stages which is the natural habitat of the 6R4, cannot see any supercar living with it. Horses for courses.

Impressive figures indeed, but there is more to it than raw power. I am now wondering when we can watch this race.... sounds like a great challenge

didn't it have the same V6 as the XJ220 ?.Properly geared for the track it would still be a piece of kit for TOP GEAR. But everything about it was designed for Rallying its almost as wide as long Group B cars were "killers".
Still think it would be a good TG test 30year old Group B cars versus fat modern day pimp machines

Yes it did. The XJ220 version of the V6 had a couple of BIG Turbochargers bolted on it.

About ten years ago, a local Salvage Company had a totaled XJ220. The power unit placed on a display stand in the main entrance. Very impressive power unit.

Top Gear tonight

6/10. In this week's programme, Richard Hammond is dropped into the remote, frozen wastes of Canada to test a watch with a built-in emergency beacon. The distress signal is sent directly to Jeremy Clarkson and James May, who get their hands on two machines and set off on an epic adventure to find their colleague. Plus. Jeremy puts the new 471bhp Lexus RC F coupe thought its paces, while The Fall and The X-Files star Gillian Anderson takes to the track in the Reasonably Priced Car.

only because of the gearbox and diff ratios set up for Rallying.
We are talking about a lap of the track that all.
