Am I the only one wondering what the filming vehicle was that spent all it's time in front of James May? I mean that didn't get stuck did it?
I was wondering that too, what camera vehicles were being used.

Hilux?
They usually use full fat Range Rovers.
or Disco's

Probably not in the Rockies.

I should imagine something like the Diesel FX4 with proper ground clearance and chains.

Surely their Polar Hilux would do the trick? smile

if you absolutely definitely have to get up a snow covered mountain, i'd suggest one of these:

So anal was I about it, I was looking to see if the snow had tracks made by one of these in any screen shot that had may in it.

I hadn't even heard of the RCF before, but saw it and thought "ugly" so feel vindicated and would have the M4 (even if it should be called M3!) Didn't need any more LFA though.

Ice road Pickups. Was funny in places, but maybe a bit too long overall. But better IMO than the Ambulance piece a few weeks back.

Anderson. Well everyone's different I suppose. What was she plugging?

yes When Clarkson slid off the side of the track I thought that they would need something like that to pull it out.

is it fair to say that Gillian would have been rescued at least a day earlier (and quite possibly more) than Hammond?

The race would also have had a different prize for the winner wink.

I'm sure it would but why import it into Canada when there would be something at the Hertz counter at the airport which is quite capable?
Half of North America is covered in ice & snow for quite a lot of the year and a local 4wd is all you need whatever your preconceptions.

When I worked in Alaska, all we had were 4wd F250's which were all we needed.

My comment was somewhat tongue-in-cheek and was really just an excuse to post a pic of the Polar Hilux. biggrin

Why are people getting so wound up about the LFA being done again?

It's fantastic car and any excuse to hear that engine for another few minutes can only be a good thing.

The LFA sounded glorious, one of my all time favourite engines. Fantastic looking car too.

Indeed, and people would have hoped like Clarkson that even a dreg of the LFA would have somehow made it through to the RCF.

It hasn't.

Any excuse to see an LFA is a damn good excuse. Especially if it's blue.

While it's not the point did anyone notice that the argument for 2 pickups was flawed - they were crew cabs.....
I noticed that but didn't think it was worth mentioning. It was clearly just a tenuous excuse for a "race" of sorts.
Well they had to bring the crew down too so even 2 single cabs and possibly 1 crew cab would not have done.

You can keep Gillian Anderson who has that same irritating quality as Kylie, not that it matters.

I enjoyed the pickups, whether fictional or not.

The Lexus LFA was, as JC pointed out, an absurdly expensive car and the other ugly Lexus had to comply with pedestrian regs and is aimed at comfort-oriented Americans, to whom a 4000lb pickup is a normal weight.

I enjoyed it. Million times better than the ambulance garbage.

Would it be greedy to ask to keep both of them?
