I think it's a fantastic idea. The more opportunities to race the better as far as I'm concerned. I'm very new to circuit racing. Only having raced twice. Rockingham and silverstone last year in bikesports. I'd love to do more meetings but because of other commitments and working weekends it's not always possible. In 2015 for example I can only attend 3 bikesports meetings. Other championships that my car is eligible for seem to have even more expensive running costs/ entry fees. So this new series brings new opportunities for me and others with eligible cars to race at sensible costs.
And if in 2016 it becomes an MSA championship then this must be a great opportunity for all of us to race at some higher profile meetings with a little more atmosphere and publicity without the massive expense. Forgive me if this is not how it works. As I say I'm new to it all and still have a lot to learn.

Phil.

It'll be interesting to see how the race series gets on. Unfortunately, being an ex-Rad owner I can't try it out.

Might seem a silly question, but what is it for? What is it planning to do that 750MC and the Radical own series don't do? And is there room for another one?

nono Not at all; not only is it multi-make, it's also not only for bike-engined cars. As excellent as they are (which is why we'll almost certainly be competing in selected rounds in both), try doing that in either of them.

In fact in a moment of madness, you could even take something like this, put some proper bodywork on it, hop up the engine and come play? .....

Can't be done? Yes it can and in this instance occasional RF contributor MagicalTrevor has shown how .......

OK it's got a bike-engine and it's for sprinting rather than circuit racing, but it shows what can be done. Nice job, looks remarkably like a Stohr at first sight and that's some compliment. Well done Andrew clap

That's very impressive indeed! It's taking all my time trying to get the Reynard to work reliably let alone trying to make it into something else!!

Yes, but I should say they are actually as different as they are apparently similar at first sight.

As you obviously know Simon, but some others may not, in OSS sometimes circa half the grid is comprised of the very best, absolutely top end of the market seriously powerful car-engined aero cars like Chirons, Jades, Junos, Ligiers, Nemesis etc i.e. cars with SR8 type pace, whereas ROC Challenge looks to primarily attract cars from the much more modest end; cars like bike-engined Radicals, Spires, Speads, ADRs etc and the more basic duratec, vtech car engined SPs, who knows perhaps even the odd SL. So in ROC Challenge, I'd anticipate that 65% - 75% of the grid may well be bike-engined cars, to be candid, cars that are relatively modestly powered by OSS standards.

You can still get nearish the front in OSS with bike engined stuff. Granted you may not ever win outright....but you can have a go!

A lot of the 'exotic' cars are beatable.

And just to be absolutely clear ............

I am delighted that after being on the brink not so very long ago, OSS continues to be successful through the magnificent efforts of its organisers and its very loyal competitors. As mentioned above, there are some fantastic cars racing in OSS, with very limited opportunities to race elsewhere and UK Motorsport would be monumentally the poorer without them. Long may their success continue and indeed grow.

I was just trying to explain what I see as the differences.

I mean where else can you have a bit of fun with a group c2 car in uk without joining in with the Group c entourage. I noticed Scott out there with his Tiga this year. Maybe a few of us should get together.

By the way, now the ROC ethos has been explained here, I think that should be given a chance as well.

Why not come along and try 1 OSS race and see how you like it?

Classes that cater for all types of SP; Sipires, Speads, ADRs, Nemesai, SP2000, Global Lights, ProSports (LM3000 and Radical) SR4s SR3s, Clubsports, etc etc
Bike engined cars have been very competitive (championship winners on two occasions) all owner drivers so pretty high driving standards, a fantastic paddock atmosphere and lots of help and advice if you need it

Hi S

Do you have a calendar for 2015 for the OSS. Would be interested to see if there are any clashes with the other series.

Regards and all the best for 2015
