Nespresso owners - Get in Here!!!!!
Discussion
I foolishly got 10 tubes of Columbian (I liked the idea of number 13 strength), it's not very nice, although the sugar helps to take off the sharp edge a little.
The Big Cup Little Cup pods are ok, but hardly any cheaper so I've been buying Nespresso pods again and find them hard to beat overall.

Mine only came with one 'tool'. confused.com.
On the Aerocinno you get a disk that is like a steering wheel that you use with the max level for things like lattee. Then one with a kind of spring look that you use with the min level for frothy milk for cappucinnoThat is an Aerocinno 3 (I believe) bought just before Christmas with a Krups Inissia.

Yep. I only have the springy thingy.

Pretty sure you just remove the spring for hot milk. That is an Aerocinno 3 (I believe) bought just before Christmas with a Krups Inissia.
I ordered one from the Nespresso site and returned it as they had changed the model slightly, only one whisk supplied and no power switch in the base.
I picked up an earlier version in the Tefal factory shop for just £30.
Hmmm, I just googled 'aeroccino one whisk', and found a FB response from Nespresso.
Hi Richard, your Aeroccino 3 should have come with two whisks: a coiled one for frothing milk and a plastic one for heating milk. Please check the lid for the second whisk, as it is occasionally stored there. If you do not have both whisks, please call the Club at 800-562-1465. We would be more than happy to then send you a new set of whisks. Have a great day.
So I guess I'll be checking my box later.

Ahhh, there are a couple of protruding mouldings in the lid of my Aeroccino, I've often looked at them wondering what they are for, maybe they are a holder for the plastic whisk.Hi Richard, your Aeroccino 3 should have come with two whisks: a coiled one for frothing milk and a plastic one for heating milk. From further reading I think that the newer versions only come with one whisk - however, you are supposed to remove the spring like circular thing to just heat up the milk.Hi Richard, your Aeroccino 3 should have come with two whisks: a coiled one for frothing milk and a plastic one for heating milk. So -
1. fill to the upper fill level, remove the spring and you'll get hot milk for a latte;
2. fill to the lower level, keep the spring in place and you'll get some hot milk and froth
I also think that if you using skimmed milk in option 2 (above) you'll get much more froth
PS I could very well be wrong!

This is exactly right. Wire disc thing on = froth. No wire disc thing = no froth (just hot milk). So -

I actually use mine to make hot chocolate too for the mrs.
On a side note I've been experiencing problems with a lack of froth recently. I decided to change my milk buying to slightly dearer stuff as id been buying from Aldi or the local cheapo shop. Turns out they use an additive that stops the fat separating and doesn't froth well. I find either Cravendale or M&S milk works the best. Asda is fine too.
All milks I use are semi skimmed.
Can the Aeroccino actually go on the sink to be washed, the instructions state that it isn't diswasher proof however it does indicate that the whole thing can be washed, my issue is the electronic contact on the bottom and the fact that it has an electric motor on the inside; currently I just wash the inside out carefully?

I only have a spring thing too, I have a Citiz with the milk (lol, I actually wrote "milf" originally!!) frother.
How queer! I bought my citiz and milk around 3 years ago. Maybe they've stopped providing the second tool but haven't changed the interior design?Anyway, I now have a Maestria. No aeroccino (sic), just a steam pipe instead which makes me feel like a barista

Yes you can get the whole thing wet. I find the best approach to be cleaning immediately after using it - you should only need a wet cloth and some hot water.menguin said:

Personally I wouldn't be submerging an electrical device in water. It has a semi exposed contact point. I can't see them being waterproof. A rince out after use is fine tho. Or put a dash of fairy in and let the machine run which is what I often do. menguin said:

Or put a dash of fairy in and let the machine run which is what I often do. Nespresso Pixie (Krups version) + Aeroccino owner here. A couple of things I've found out:
Aeroccinos (especially the older model with two separate whisks) are prone to retaining hot patches and thus burnt milk. Nespresso customer service is top notch though and they replaced mine at 18 months with the newer version. As above, this only has one whisk but you remove the spring to make lattes. Always make sure you thoroughly cleanr the Aeroccino after each use though!
My favourite capsules are Ristretto (black) and Arpeggio (purple). I tend to go make a cappuccino by adding one or two small shots to a tall coffee glass, then pouring the heated and frothed milk down the side of the same glass to mix consistently and retain a 'head' of froth.
The Aeroccino produces a bit too much froth for my liking with the spring in, but I keep hearing that's down to the protein content of the milk used. We usually go for Cravendale S/S - interested to hear if anyone else knows how to increase the ratio of hot milk to froth! I always tap the bottom of the Aeroccino and swirl before pouring to make it as consistent as possible.
Whoever gave the tip a few pages ago of putting water through first for a long black, thanks. Will give that go later.

Yeah those strong (intenso) ones are awful. I had a Kazaar (strength 12) and had to tip it down the sink, even after sugar and milk. The Big Cup Little Cup pods are ok, but hardly any cheaper so I've been buying Nespresso pods again and find them hard to beat overall.
I think people confuse strength of roast with caffeine content, and think they are not getting the 'hit' if they taste a delicate light roast but this is not the case. There can actually be more caffeine in the lighter roasts because they are cooked less.

Thanks for that I shall let the wife know!!
I can't believe you lot are talking about techniques for making Nespresso coffee. It's all the same regardless of which machine or pod you buy. Crap. Nespresso is the biggest bunch of marketing aspirational lifestyle consumerism bullst I have ever seen. I have so much respect for Nestle and their marketing team who have hooked millions of people into this complete con thinking that it is really good coffee. Nearly everyone I know has a machine and insists on fking wax lyricaling me whenever I go to their house about how great their Nespresso coffee is and each time I have it, I think "disgusting" all the time I am drinking it. Someone even asked me the other day if I wanted an "Apple Crumble" coffee. WHAT THE fk?!
