Losing coolant & split second loss of power
Discussion
Hi,
I have had a coolant leak issue with my A4 S line 2007. I took it into my local garage to check for leaks but nothing was found. After taking the oil cap off it was evident that the water was travelling through into the oil!! Unfortunately it wasn't the gasket, the head had cracked!! very expensive! I didn't suffer any power loss but if there is water going through the turbo then it cant be good I guess? Hopefully its just a leaky hose??
Pete.

Thanks Pete.
It went into the garage today and it's the thermostat housing that's leaking, so a replacement part has been ordered and will be fitted on Tuesday.
I've decided to buy a new A3 now, given the age and mileage of mine, this is probably the beginning of the end!
I hope you get yours sorted as cheaply as possible.

intrigued that you see it as the beginning of the end though.
When cars start to go wrong, they don't stop, IMO. I've had a few things in the past 12 months - suspension, steering rack end and now this.
I do high miles so it's time to get rid....
