After my Jaguar XJ8 died, I thought I should buy something a little more sensible - so I have just bought an '05 Honda CRV - which has its original stereo - CD player, no bluetooth etc. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts or experience when it comes to replacing it. iPhone connectivity would be great - as would being able to use the steering wheel controls. I notice that it currently has a normal sized stereo in it, but the cavity id definitely big enough to take one of those large big touch screen things that does everything. I've never changed the stereo in a car before, so I'm slightly starting from scratch. Does anyone have any advice?

I put in a Double DIN Alpine unit like this in my '04 CRV. It was easy to fit. The 2nd gen CRV is from an era when dashboards could be dismantled with a screwdriver. Picture below is not my actual car, but shows how a Double DIN head unit fills the space in the dashboard nicely. The lighting on most Alpine units can be set to white/red, to match the CRV''s dashboard lighting.

Excellent. Thanks very much. Double DIN is a much better fit. The current slot underneath the existing stereo is a bit of a waste of space. Now to commence the buying...
