Hi,
I have a 06 207 1.6 HDI which has developed an intermittent fault which seems to be getting worse, every so often if you lock the car and go back to it after a few minutes and try to unlock it nothing happens, lights don't flash and no noise made, if you use the key to get inside the car and try the ignition then that's totally dead too, the only solution that we have found that seems to work at the moment is to get out of the cat and try to lock/unlock the car, leave it for a few minutes then the indicators flash and the doors will either lock or unlock and alls back to normal. I'm hoping that the issue doesn't get to the point where it'll stop the car whilst driving!
If anyone can suggest anything to check or what could be failing then I'd be very grateful.
Apologies if this is posted in the wrong section.

Also we're having an issue with blue smoke on start up from cold and lumpy idle for a few seconds/until rev'd so not sure it that'll be linked? or if anyone knows what that could be?

Many thanks
Paul

The issue is not the central locking, it is the alarm.

If the alarm does not reset then the imobiliser is on, so the car WILL be dead when opening with the key and not the key fob/blipper.

Try a new keyfob/blipper battery in the first instance.

Replied separately to a completely separate issue.

The lumpy start/blue smoke sounds like a top end rebuild needed on the engine, as it is most likely valve guide seals.

Not sure about this one but some cars don't alarm/immobilise off the key only the blipper. Try just locking/unlocking manually (so the alarm is not set in the 1st place) see if this helps until you can get it sorted.

I agree with PositronicRay, this method will prove something over time

Hi everybody,
Just an update, I've been unlocking and locking the car with the key and not the fob since you suggested trying it and so far it hasn't done it so i'm hoping that it is something to do with the central locking, if it is then i'll use the key in future!
Thanks
Paul

sounds like the remote needs either a new battery of resyncing to the car (google for specifics, could be the remote battery terminal, they often crack at solder points or the conntacts corrode.
