News Regarding new TVR's?
Discussion
At least the new team dont release bullst announcements every so often like moleskin used to, it made TVR a joke in the car press
They must have been hard at work in the background to sort out the parts business and Im sure when they have something to tell us about new cars they will.
Hopefully they are taking their time to create something that will last and not collapse after a few years trading.

No other mainstream manufacturer releases dates/time schedules until the product is very close to entering full production so I don't see why TVR should be expected to publish something that in reality will be quite a fluid plan.
Personally I think they're going about it the right way, telling people from the start that there'll be no news until stuff is confirmed, and then sticking to that commitment.
It often takes a mainstream manufacturer around 7yrs plus to evaluate, develop and implement a new product into the market and that's with huge development teams. Whilst I hope TVR don't take quite that long, I'm glad they're avoiding the more common communication mistakes that seem to be the norm for smaller manufacturers.

I agree with Mr Chips, but also with Fatbutt. Whilst press releases about a car might currently be too speculative; it would be nice if they announced that they were recruit x-number of engineers to do what; and then for example had recruited "John Smith formerly ex say TVR/Lotus/Caterham/whereever, to be head of engine development/road train" etc. It's this total lack of news about new staff, or who will be doing what; plus the lack of any spy shots evaluating engines/bodywork; etc etc; that makes you think nothing is actually being done?

Given that they are due to restart production this year surely its not undue to assume they are 'very close to entering full production'? Maybe something like 'We'll have concept drawings by Goodwood' or some other typical approach.Personally I think they're going about it the right way, telling people from the start that there'll be no news until stuff is confirmed, and then sticking to that commitment.

I agree that an announcement too early is not good, but motor manufacturers make early announcements in order to stop potential customers buying another brand because if they do that then you've lost them for the next 2 or 3 years and possibly permanently. Announcements can be drip fed with more information as it becomes more solid, I know zenos is not a competitor but it's interesting the speed they have taken to bring a product to market and at 25 - 30 + k they could take into some potential customers and they are busy brand building whilst TVR are holding back.
If the new car is this year, then announcements will need to be made soon in order to get the pre-orders and deposits in, but there will also need to be a dealer network in place unless the new cars will be sold direct, but even then a service/after sales organisational needs to be in place
I'm really looking forward to hearing more information from TVR

Regarding maintainance/after sales, I've got it from reliable source that TVR is seeking support in contacting dealers throughout Europe to line up their organisation............

Not a chance in hell. You'd need to be running prototypes for at least 12-24 months to validate a car before selling it. Has anyone even seen a mule, where is their facility? If there was going to be production this year someone would have seen something, somewhere....
Had a wierd dream the other night that I got a sneak preview of the new TVR. My recollection was that it looked good, but was a smaller car than those of late. A Sagarisized MX5 for want of a better description. It had a heavily breathed on Turbo 4 from VW/Audi with a Twin clutch trans and RWD. It was a steel space frame with composite body panels as before.
Anyway, thought I'd share my random, yet surprisingly detailed Dream.
