Thinking of buying a DBS.
Discussion
This has been going on for 17 lonnnng days!
I lasted one dealer and one test drive and one week! I admire your resolve!
Have you test driven the car and decided on that? Right price? AM dealer? Warranty? Get it bought!
Are you still going for 'colour'?
And post the pics when you have done the deed!

Thanks for your reply.
This is a big purchase for some and I want to make certain I get it write, I don't have £100k to just throw around, so I am asking the questions from people who hopefully have the answers. Silly of me I know.
Yes I have now looked and test driven 5 cars (They were all different in many ways.) and I have today, I think found the car for me, and I hope from a good dealer (There certainly are some differences in them.)
Yes it's all personal opinion but any comments good or bad will help my decision.
The car in question is a Carbon Black 2010 car with 13k on the clock. The wife is happy with it, so that's one question sorted!
If anybody can help with this last question then I can make the decision and buy the car in the next week or so!
Plus if I get it write it will also mean I can keep my collection of TVR's as a bonus! Not ever bodies choice I know but it's mine!

Hi
I hope I am now very close to getting my dream DBS.
Any recommendation for or against Aston's at Amersham?

I bought mine from Wilmslow Stratstone a year ago and since then half the sales staff seem to have changed. Every dealer has good and bad stories including the well know indies. I had issues with my purchase which they eventually sorted out (both with the car and the admin) and at the time it certainly took the gloss off the experience. Others have praised the same dealer. People can praise their dealer on here but talk to them in private and they've also had a bad experience at some point with them. There's no such thing as the perfect dealer, recommendations can only help give you better or worse odds on the experience you'd have. That said I've not heard anything particular either way about the dealer you mention.I hope I am now very close to getting my dream DBS.
Any recommendation for or against Aston's at Amersham?

The below is in my experience not untypical

The message is really just get everything in writing as its communication and mismatched expectations that often causes issues and don't expect them to feel the same way about your new P&J as you do - to them it's just a car and it's business. You do have the peace of mind that as an official dealer and part of a chain, if it did go wrong you have avenues to persue. Hopefully and probably it won't or at worst it will be a minor problem where they've not done what they promised first time Sounds like you've done your homework on the cars so you'll know if the deals feels right.
The pleasure of ownership for pretty much all of us quickly outweighs any niggle during the purchase which is why the general message is 'just get it done' so you can start to enjoy.
Edit
apologies as this sounds like I'm teaching you to suck eggs!

This +1.However awesome the car is, and it is, for them it is just another used car deal, even though it is an Aston Martin, and the customer shouldn't expect a used car to be perfect. Maybe new customers get treated slightly differently.
Anything they agree to do should be recorded in writing. Make sure the car is 100% to your satisfaction before you drive it away. Then I am sure you won't have anything to worry about.

As you will see from above, some dealers are better than others! Mine is now 3 years old, and is a wonderful drive. Try a Volante and Coupe side by side to see which you prefer. The latter is more a driver's car, but both are great. I have several AMs but even with an in-warranty car would get an independent specialist to give it the once over before buying. No dealer I have yet bought from has baulked at this request. Given the price of new discs, insist on them being checked (heated and weighed) against spec before buying - only really need to check one front.

I see there is another Silver Fox Ultimate edition for sale. Same (hefty) price but more agreeable interior
Hi Funny that I was just looking at a video of the above car, which they sent me yesterday. If it was Black I would be down there tomorrow, but there again the wife says she like's the colour better than black and she didn't scream when I showed her the price.
The cb car at Stratstones is still of interest but looking at a few post on her I am having 2nd thoughts about dealing with them. The car had some damage to the front splitter which I pointed out to them, they said they will sort that, plus the centre consul had a chip out of the piano black surface again they said they would sort that. To me things like this should be sorted before the put them up for sale!
I had driven another DBS there in December and that had crap brakes and crap wheels and so many rattles inside, of course I walked away then and may also with the CB car. I am hoping they say this week these jobs are done so I can go and inspect it before we start talking final money!
