T350 Exhaust Heat Shield
Discussion
Steve, I’m not sure how or if it would be possible to polish
That looks really good Robert I see you have polished the fuel tank as well. Have you applied any protection to prevent tarnishing?
Unfortunately mine has gone further than yours has and has started to crumble at the bottom.
I forgot I also asked this last year!

We just used white spirit and some elbow grease to get the tank into this shiny state. So no protection there whatsoever. Same for the aluminium bits in the engine compartment. So, they do get dirty and maybe pick up some light corrosion.Unfortunately mine has gone further than yours has and has started to crumble at the bottom.
But since aluminium and stainless steel have a certain resistance to watery corrosion, I have no concerns. Espescially if you do not use the car when road salt is everywhere on the streets. On the other side I normally do not take the car out on rainy days anyways. ;-)
Can you see the crumbled edges from outside through the diffusor? If not, I'm not sure I would replace it. But the heat shield from your link looks good, too and not too expensive imo.
