Kent Run Routes

Years ago I went on a few of Jays Kent Runs, used to get a sat nav route to drive too. Does anyone have any of the old routes? As wouldn't mind driving them again.

I don't have any routes, but would certainly be interested in seeing some of them - don't really know of any good driving roads in Kent.

Is that because you don't get out much or your tank is too small?
It does involve some mileage before you reach the decent stuff.
It's out there if you go and look. Knowing where to begin does help though.

I'm the organiser for our club's Kent runs. Been doing them every year since 2006.
Some of them stray across the border into East Sussex which gives a bit more scope.
The challenge now is to find suitable roads we haven't used before!

The one downside is having to get up for a silly o'clock start.
Otherwise you end up mixing it with traffic and that's just not enjoyable.

The Tom Tom maps Jay used must have been Noah's.
That bypass had been open for over 2 years (March 2005).

Those were the days. PH Kent runs seem to be be a bit like unicorns now.
With petrol prices the lowest they have been for years, 2015 would be a good time for a revival.

How rude I can't help that I get 200 miles out of a tank

I did manage a semi-decent route a week or so ago, but did have to go down to the coast to find some really good roads.

I did a run you came on last year, which whilst not bad, would like some more open roads to enjoy - but again, those sorts of roads you end up nearer to the coast to access.

You need to try harder my friend!

Coast runs are great but you dont need to go that far if time is tight. I'm in Bickley & can be on some fantastic roads in about twenty minutes in a fair wind You would be amazed at some of the roads you can find just off the M25 & if you get a clear run the drive can be very rewarding.

Off to deepest Kent for dinner tonight with friends & will be taking the scenic route to add to the fun. Wont be in the Griff but wifeys Z4 Coupe is still a giggle.

Sadly my hard drive on the pooter crashed & I lost a lot of the routes I had on file so cant post them on here. But always happy to reply to pm's if I can help, I tend not to use satnav files as Im married to the best map reader in the world!

I bet 200 miles out of a tank is unheard of in a TVR

I've driven a few roads round kent. Probably my favourite one nearest to me (Bromley) is going to be the Shoreham to Eynsford road. Excellent when there's little/no traffic

That run last April was good fun; I would definitely be up for variations on that format. I might even have my vehicles ready for the road by the summer!

Far too short: blink and you'll miss it The chicane under the railway bridge is nice though.

Not a cloud in the sky and no tourists cluttering up the beach.


Best of all: deserted roads. In over 200 miles I encountered around 12 cars and 10 of those were going in the opposite direction.

Agreed - but that's why you turn around at each end and go back again Saw someone doing the same on the day I picked up my MX5 in their VX220 - must have passed one-another 4 times!

It was crappy weather last year, but I just couldn't wait to go for a hoon! Certainly not jealous of that weather/location
