Hi everyone,

Thanks to everyone reading this as i am really scratching my head with this one.

I have an Ldv maxus dropside van with 95k miles. It has the 2.5 turbo VM engine and it's the 135hp version. Engine is sweet and always used to go like a rocket (by van standards) before this started happening.

It has developed a problem which is causing a lack of power. I'll try and list all the info I have and maybe someone will know what's wrong.

- The lack of power seems to manifest itself mostly above 2500rpm
- It doesn't smoke and the turbo sounds like it spools up fine although it is kind of hard to hear at higher rpm
- obvious stuff like fuel and air filter have been changed
- fuel economy is circa 20mpg and drps to 15 towing a loaded trailer, but i think this is mainly because the engine is working so hard due to the lack of power. Usually it's 30mpg.-
- plugging it in revealed a fault with the crankshaft position sensor. Erased the fault and plugged it in a few days later and the fault hadn't reappeared.
- the engine will rev freely to 2500rpm but when under load it seems to run out of puff around the 2500rpm mark when it should be gathering power.

Would massively appreciate any help if anyone has any ideas. It's so frustrating because i feel there's another good 100k miles in this van if not for this small problem.

Wasn't that standard? .....................

Sorry could not resist.

Have you checked waste gate is not stuck open? Pressure leak on turbo circuit/hoses/intercooler etc? EGRV failure?

If its drive by wire, the accelerator pedal may need replacing. You might get away with cleaning the Gubbins out with some switch cleaner from maplin.. If you can get it apart without breaking it.

It sounds as though you are not getting any boost from the turbo, check the pipes from the turbo to intercooler, could be one has come adrift or has a hole in it or the intercooler has a leak.
