However, will the Celebration include an interior window box and proper signage?

Just sat in one of these at the Geneva show. The Grasmere Green is actually a metallic finish and it really works well. Lovely thing. I'm just average height/build but it's so long since I've been in a Defender, I found it almost comical that I had to climb up into it and then found my left hand shoulder/arm touching the door/side window (it was LHD example). Ergonomics off the scale but so is the I want one factor! I heard that Richard Porter of sniffpetrol / Gareth Jones on Speed has ordered one. I hope he fits in it!

Mogul, is it a stationwagon or hardtop version that they have down at the motor show?

No one seems to know whether the hardtops will have the 'Alpine' style curved glass either side of the roof panel! Just wondered if you have any first hand knowledge

The press photos on the first page of this thread show them on the hardtops.

They have examples of all three celebration models on the stand and I read that the Heritage Edition is available in 90 Hard Top, 90 Station Wagon, 110 Utility Wagon, 110 Station Wagon bodystyles. I'm not a Defender buff but the below image shows the Heritage 90 that they have on the stand...

I think we might be confusing the term 'hardtop'!

Basically, in LR speak this is a hardtop:

but the bare ones with no option packs sometimes don't have the Alpine glass...
eg...

And a staionwagon is what is in all their press shots / in that picture at Geneva. Stationwagons always have the Alpine windows...

Still unsure!

Just put a deposit on the Expedition model (that no one likes frown ), can't wait to get it. Going to trick it out completely.

Only problem is, I just picked up a new Defender a few months back, oh well that'll have to go.............. to the back of my garage thumbup

By way of an update for those interested, looks like the HT that Pistonheads tested has the Alpine windows! Woop!

The camel trophy was an annual competition run by the leasure/adventure wear branch of the Camel cigarette company IIRC.

It started in the early 80's with a Jeep then from 1983 used various Land Rovers including the series 3, 90/110, Range Rover, Discovery, Defender before finally using the Freelander in 1997. The following year there was another attempt using the Honda CRV but that was the final Camel Trophy.

The idea of the Camel trophy was a teamwork competition with the emphasis of off road driving. Often using routes that had not seen vehicles for many years so the teams would have to work together to make any progress.

There was also a lot of support vehicles from land rover including engineering support, ambulances etc.

If the vehicle your friend is looking at is a genuine Camel Trophy vehicle, there are many replicas out there. Then it can be a competitiors vehicle or a support vehicle. The best people to speak to are the camel trophy owners club as they have all the details of which vehicles were used when for what
