The alloys on my 2005 MINI are starting to leak badly - I've had the inner rims of two wheels cleaned up by Kwik-Fit but I know this is only a temporary fix. It's a shame that the outside of the wheels is almost unmarked.

Can anyone recommend a local workshop who can do a good complete refurb of my wheels? I simply want to drop off the car, leave it a couple of days, and collect it completed. I don't really have the facilities to remove the wheels and/or tyres to take them separately to a workshop.

There are several options on the Tyburn Rd just north of the M6 for example including Laptab/The Wheel Specialist & Prestige Alloys. In Digby the there is City Powder Coaters. I've used The Wheel Specialist before although now use someone closer to home nr Lichfield. Prestige seem to have a good reputation though ask for a quote from all of them (including VAT wink ) & also how long the wait is before you can get them done?

I've used Lap Tab (The Wheel Specialist) quite a few times, but the latest set they did for me cracked frown Apparently they've changed their product / process and it struggled with my wheels for some reason. Not sure if it was a one off, but since then I've been using Colour Correction in Astwood Bank (Redditch). They've been fantastic, are cheaper than Lap Tab and more local. Highly recommended smile

Just to let you know i to have had issues with Lap Tab(The Wheel Specialist)

They scrapped my tyres removing and refitting them, and tried to blame it on pothole damage, it took a lot of arguing with them as they admitted responsibility then changed their mind.

Avoid !!

I've used these and will do again as I have some wheels that I want another colour. Finish on my rims I had done are still excellent 4 year's later.

Speedwells here to.

They refurbed my 7 year old alloys and colour matched to the original JDM gunmetal grey. They look great.

This thread came just too late for me - or perhaps not?

Picked up my car on Friday from the Wheel Specialist/LapTab. Very pleased so far, alignment, tyre pressures and the wheels themselves all spot on.

Guaranteed for 12 months so hopefully they won't crack, but they can't be any worse than the finish of the Subaru originals.

I decided to go with Speedwell's, since I heard more good reports from friends in the Jap world, and also they were quite handy for me being on the Eastern side of Birmingham.

Very efficient, business-like and friendly; I was loaned a set of alloys (free) which were fitted when I arrived. I was phoned/mailed when the wheels were ready, I turned up and the loan wheels were swapped for my own. £40 per wheel I thought was ok.

Finish looks really good, I have no hesitation in recommending them (they were used by the "Wheeler Dealer" guys for their VW at the NEC show last year.

If there are any problems in future, be sure I'll post it!!

Again, many thanks for your contributions.

Sounds like great customer service-thanks for the update. As I'm closer to Colour correction in Redditch,I may give them a try as and when I've lost a couple more mm from my rears.

If you go to Colour Correction before I pick it up on Sat, you can look at one of my wheels... Ryan has just refurbed it for me smile
