Very sharp move by Volvo marketing people ... This could really get them yet another sales niche. There's some bright sparks there since the Chinese took over. Couple anything to the D4 engine and you're onto a winner, couple the D4 to niche styling exercises and Volvo could further really nail a newly invented segment to themselves. Not sure if they're big enough to out-Audi Audi tho. Should do well as they're so differentiated from the Germans...and everyone else now Saab are gone.

Not for me tho....too 'X6' in the profile methinks.

Quirky and Pointless, however BMW and the likes are proving that exact combination can sell, hopefully it works.

V60 CC out soon at a silly price way into XC60 territory, which is worrying for the S60 as that might and probably will also be priced stupidly.

Either a great move on the product team or simply a way of filling the range out due to the imminent demise of the S80, V70/XC70 which will reduce the overall model range of Volvo to virtually rock all.

The new V90 is coming this year, is it not?

I read an article a few weeks ago stating that in 5 years time the NEW XC90 will be oldest car in Volvo's line up.

Dont see the problem with the range myself, save the lack of a small offering - but it seems Volvo don't want to compete in that market any more.

V40
V40XC
S60
S60XC
V60
V60XC
V70
XC70
XC90

...V90

Seems like a wide enough range...?
The problem is the sub ranges of CC aren't exactly different models, look at Audi, BMW and Mercedes line up of cars they are vastly larger and Volvo are wanting to compete directly with them.

Take V70 and XC70 out of that list (as they wont be about when V90 does eventually arrive) and your left with:

V40, V40cc (which Volvo aren't going to class as a separate model as of MY16)
S60, S60cc (if the CC is a FWD version then its only really a styling package and not even a CC)
V60, V60cc
XC60
XC90

Suddenly looks very small, when as of 2012 it was:

C30
S40
V50
S60
V60
V70
S80
XC70
XC60
XC90
C70

Not really heading in the right direction!!

Ok S90 and V90 will follow potentially from the end of 2016 but most likely only from MY17, V60cc has been effectively brought in to replace XC70 but has no where near the required load capacity and if they do a V90cc its a bit difficult to place as it really should be called XC90.

Looks awful. It'll sell well. Looks like someone Max Powered it and ran out of money before being able to buy a sports suspension kit. Like the rest of similar cars.

I do like it, but I doubt I'd have one over the standard S60. Is AWD available on the non-Cross Country version?

Can get the non CC in T6 R-Design or Polestar which are AWD.
