time for some new tyres, is there any major difference in these Grabbers?
mainly winter time road use, and mostly parked up the rest of the year

I have had both on Grand Cherokees at the same time, AT2s were better in snow, ATs better on icy roads

If you want a tyre for winter road use then you are much better off with a proper winter tyre like a Vredestein Wintrac Extreme.

Nonononono - they don't look gnarly at all. It's a jeep not a bloody X5!

OP - I've got new Grabber ATs on my GC and they did brilliantly in the recent snow (yes we had real snow up here), and I only got stuck once in very deep mud chasing a Landy around a 400 acre sheep farm. Impressive on the road as well, which is where they spend most of their time. Couldn't get my size in AT2s so can't comment, but they're definitely a better tyre than the previous GG UHPs.

AT2s are M+S rated, although I've not really used them in anger.

There used to be an AT. Then it was replaced by the AT2. Then another new tyre was released, but instead of calling it the AT3 General simply called it the AT again. So the current AT is the later tyre.

Both are still available, but the sizes available differ between the two. Some people swear by the AT2, but when General designed the AT they aimed to make it at least as good as the AT2 in every way, whilst still meeting the current EU noise regulations, etc.

So the current AT tyre is newer... but a product of EU legislation

Correct both are M + S rated, AT2 would be my choice if you can find them. wink

I had the same requirements and went for Nokian SUV WR3.
Very impressed so far.

Google spits out a load of vendors for that size; ebay, mytyres, john craddock, camskill etc.

As we have not had any of the NEW BFG AT's as yet in the UK it's hard to tell.
